After placing first in the Forbes Korea’s Power Celebrity Top 40 list for two consecutive years (2011 and 2012), Girls’ Generation was named the second most powerful celebrity in Forbes’s 2013 ranking. The magazine, now celebrating its tenth year of publication, produces the “Korea’s Power Celebrity 40” list on an annual basis, defining celebrities as those who are well known amongst the general public. The magazine selects a field of 100 candidates, then ranks the top 40, deciding the order based on a candidate’s standing in the categories of earnings, influence, reputation, and professionalism.
With a total of 32 TV advertisements under their belt in 2012, Girls’ Generation had the most advertising appearances out of any celebrity on the list. However, international sensation PSY prevented them from holding the top spot for a third year in a row. Other notable people on the list included Son Yeonjae at #3, Big Bang at #5, and IU at #8.

Aww if it wasn’t for Psy they will rank first :3 Anyways hard work really pays off. The girls deserves that. Let’s continue to support & love them. :))
Aww..They got second place..But for me they always comes first..XD
Soshi Jjang!!!!!!
no wonder if its psy. gangnam style was daebak.
its still an honour to be #2nd. and they always be the #1st for me. now, from now on, forever.
They didnt get first D:
its okay tho… SNSD is always first imo :D
SOSHI JJANG :D
I want they to be no. 1 but i guess Psy really swept everything clean. But i think being no 2 quite impressing too. SOSHI JJANG !
all i can say is DAEBAK!
good
the girls are still reigning even though they are 2nd this time around. goes to show they still got the power over S.K. general public and with the help from their loyal supportive Sones worldwide that keeps on doing the best to keep the girls afloat in the entertainment world. this year when they decides to drop that English album, there’s going to be a change for the following year. chin up Sones and be happy and proud of the girls accomplishments for 6 years coming now. Respect!
kamsahamnida SSF for keeping us updated ♥♥♥
2012 was definitely a good year for PSY. But it is still an honor to be named No. 2.
WOw 32 TV advertisement, that’s alot! Big congrats to Soshi unnie! Proud that’s I’m a SONE!
Why SNSD not in the first places -_- Psy era sudah habis dimakan waktu dan sangat singkat..
But no matter what, SNSD still be first place in my heart. <3
what psy experienced was worked hard for
and well deserved…but an anomaly nonetheless…
and for the girls to come in second the year
that something like that occurs should be viewed
as nothing less than the girls continuing their
streak of forbes domination with another win…
while psy’s was more a flash in the pan…at least
up to this point…snsd has been sizzling for the last
six years!!!
Nice! even though they didn’t do any promotions except for the sub-unit TTS, they still manage to place 2nd.,
Oh come on! Psy was the biggest story for 2012 internationally and we cannot deny that fact, but still they manage to place 2nd! wothooo~~ SNSD jjang!
SONES too are jjang!
p.s: come on fellow SONES no need to be sad, they are 2nd without even releasing an album for Korea in 2012 (except TTS), so its OK!
I’m happy to know they’re still on the top. And will keep supporting the girls ’til they are together as one. They’ve influenced my life to the highest level.
I love you So Nyu Shi Dae~!
I hate 2012.2012 is a terrible year of SONE.SNSD broke a record 9 consecutive wins on Music Bank by PSY and now and now he surpassed SNSD again
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Heol Daebak Sageun! Congratulations!
Considering that in 2012 they didn’t promote anything as a GROUP (9 members) and only had TaeTiSeo as a Sub-unit in May 2012-June 2012. Girls’ Generation’s staying power is really proven in Korea. No wonder they’re Korea’s flagship Girl Group and Asia’s #1!
No full album, not much promotions as a group (except for SNSD-TTS) for 2012, and yet they still managed to place second. Now that says a lot regarding their overall influence. NIIICE!!!!!!
Heh, I already guessed who came in at first place. PSY was obviously the biggest story of 2012 for Korean celebrities.
I understand the reason why Psy rank first for this chart . . . but I impressed with girls’ reputation . . . if and only if . . . . I’m so sure SNSD still the top of the chart . . .
No matter what SNSD still be first place for SONE forever
^ yeah of course!
Before I read the article, I thought about Psy… Is he the number 1 who took the top spot from our girls? Lol it turned out to be true…
But no matter what, you’re the first in my heart girls :)
You should note that SNSD still made 2nd on the list, which is impressive if you consider that SNSD didn’t even release a SNSD album in Korea in 2012, with just TTS sub-unit album and individual schedules.
so sad that psy took over the place, but SOSHI JJANG! SOSHI HWAITING~
woww! go soshi :D
Congrats to the girls for ranking so high. PSY had a huge year last year, so I can see why he took the number one spot. (The girls were busy promoting in Japan and did their sub unit group activities, last year.) GG will be on T.O.P. once again next year I’m sure! ;)
soshi jjang :D
