On November 23rd, Girls’ Generation performed at the “SMTOWN Live World Tour III” in Singapore together with their fellow SM Entertainment labelmates. The concert was held at The Float @ Marina Bay, the largest floating stage in the world. Nearly 24,000 people attended the concert, which lasted for around four hours.
Before the concert, Yuri managed to sneak into a crowd of fans to watch the rehearsals. She posed for a picture, hiding with her sunglasses and a jacket over her head. Two hours before the concert was scheduled to start, Seohyun represented Girls’ Generation at the press conference. Dressed in the outfit from “The Boys”, she introduced herself in English and wished everyone a fun night. She was also concerned for the fans who had to wait so long in the rain.
However, it was also during this time that a thunderstorm hit Singapore, forcing the organizers to delay the concert. The storm was horrendous, as per Singapore’s weather, but the sky cleared after about an hour and a half. Even so, it had caused many technical problems such as the big screens short-circuiting numerous times, as well as an odd, chipmunk effect in the sound system. In particular, many of the female artists were affected by this.
The first Girls’ Generation member to step on stage was Jessica. She teamed up with her younger sister, Krystal from f(x), to perform Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”. A particularly memorable part of this performance was when Krystal forgot a small part of the dance routine and was pulled back, very cutely, by Jessica.
The next performance by a member of Girls’ Generation was none other than Taeyeon’s “Devil’s Cry”. Her rocking performance shook the whole place, and everyone was screaming wildly even before she began singing. One downside to this performance was that the sound system had been affected by the rain, and her voice came out squeaky. After Taeyeon finished “Devil’s Cry”, the other girls came out and joined her in performing “Run Devil Run”. Fans were finally able to see Sunny’s new purple hair for themselves.
Following this, the girls took a short break by introducing themselves. They gave a Korean introduction, followed by an English introduction, and finally individual introductions. All the girls introduced themselves very cutely, but Seohyun, in particular, wowed everyone with her flawless English. Both Tiffany and Seohyun mentioned that they had been worrying about fans standing in the rain and are thankful that they toughed it out. Tiffany also said that she misses the fans in Singapore and is glad to be back. Finally, she rounded off by saying, “Stay dry, okay?” Jessica then went on to introduce the next song that they would be singing, “Genie”.
The fanchants for “Genie” were tremendously loud, and Tiffany made the crowd even more excited by shouting, “Singapore, put it back on!” It was definitely one of the best performances of the night.
The next song was “Twinkle” by Girls’ Generation – TTS. The girls came out in their white and black outfits, and they added on sequined jackets for their next performance, “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love”, featuring EXO’s D.O, Chanyeol, Luhan and Sehun. This performance was incredible because Tiffany waved nonstop to fans and made hearts with her arms. She also kept running around and saying hi to fans. After this, it was time for the dance battle. Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Yoona represented Girls’ Generation and sent the crowd into a frenzy with their hot costumes and moves.
The next Girls’ Generation song was “MR. TAXI”. The girls came out in gold and black outfits. Taeyeon, Sunny, and Seohyun were wearing gold-sequined caps which made their costumes even more amazing. During the song, everyone was singing along and waving their lightsticks. After this, the girls changed into their signature “Gee” outfits, white shirt and shorts, and caused the seated fans to go crazy by appearing on the extended stage on the track. During the performance, fans kept the energy level up by chanting along with the girls. “Kissing You” literally started off with a bang as streamers exploded out into the sky. This was by far the most engaging performance by the girls as they spent the whole song running around greeting and waving to fans. Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, and Seohyun were in a cart, and they were playing around in it as it moved.
The last performance by Girls’ Generation was none other than “The Boys”. Unfortunately, it started raining again before it, but the girls, as well as all the other artists, remained professional and continued dancing. The “GG” cheer was deafening, and some of the girls smiled when they heard it.
Finally, the girls returned to the stage with all the other artists to perform “Hope”. During this time, Taeyeon took an umbrella to shield Kangta from the rain, and her cuteness was overwhelming. Also, Hyoyeon and Seohyun took an umbrella and ran off to the side of the stage. They stood in front of the fans and did a dorky dance, causing many fans, such as myself, to get a heart attack. Many other things happened during the last performance, so keep an eye out for fan accounts here.
Despite the heavy downpour, the torturous queueing, and all of the other setbacks, “SMTOWN Live World Tour III” in Singapore was still amazing.

I hope the girls had fun despite the rain and other problems :) It seemed like a really great concert, but maybe RITS could hold it during June or something next time, when it’s all sunshine instead of pouring rain. Still, good job everyone!

Apart from the joy I get from seeing Taeyeon for the first time, a small part of me detest the way RITS organised this event…
1)The securities were gangsters.
2)The choice of venue, on one hand I applaud them for their guts, but on the other I wished they used more sense. Its an open area, and it is around this time of the year that Singapore experiences heavy rains and violent storms. They just had to do it here. I understand it was stated very clearly it is a Rain or Shine event. But storm is a totally different story. Us fans chose to brave through the weather to support our idols. It was voluntary, fine. But it isn’t fair for our idols to face such weather and subject them to possible sickness like cold and flu when their subsequent event is just 2 days away, in Bangkok. Things could get really screwed up. I wish our idols were fine after that night.
3)The weatherd cause everybody to be wearing ponchos and holding umbrellas. The last 4 to 5 songs were practically delivered to a “Black Ocean”. While in other countries they have the Ocean War, certain colors vying for the spotlight over one another, we on the other hand demonstrated our unity, in a wrong way. We showed our dear idols a black ocean.
4)Aside from the weather, there were many other technical problems as well. First, the rightmost big LCD screen were blacked out for almost the whole of the concert. Second, the main screen’s top-right corner were blacked out throughout the show as well. Third, a column of the LCD screen on the left blacked out near the end.
5)Not to mention, our idols voices were aegyo-fied throughout. Yes, thats a very nice sounding way to put it. But some will say the sound systems made our idols sound like chipmunks.
6)Idols slipping here and there, due to the slippery floor. And there’s one instance where forgiveness cannot be granted. That is the stupid cart driver who apparently stopped a while for the girls to come down the cart and onto the stage, but just when Tiffany’s coming down the cart jerked forward, she almost fell OUT of the cart itself. With what fortune can the driver possibly have to repay Tiffany and us fans if she really did fall out? Things were really lucky for RITS, that our idols are blessed with good luck and were fortunate enough to not suffer injuries from the fall or potential fall.
7)After the concert finished there were absolutely minimal ushers leading us out in an orderly fashion. Once we reach the big tentage, direction of human flow is really bad. Its just terrible.
I really hope SM artists had fun here. And wasn’t affected by the storms such that they would think twice before performing here again. Sincerely hope the next concert by these artists would be held by more sensible organizers at a better venue.

I wish i could retweet this whole statement of yours~ I feel the same way. It even took us about an hour to exit the venue because we had to go around in circles when freedom was just like 2m away thanks to the barricade & unreasonable reasons? for not taking down the barricade so that people can just leave.
I was not there but I knew the condition from my twitter. I couldn’t agree more with what u wrote here.
I was so freaking angry when I heard all the chipmunks sounds coming out from SNSD even male artists such as EXO throughout the concert!!! It was freaking weird and made us felt like we were watching a fanmade chipmunk effect video from youtube == and the big screen part was EPIC fail and even Jonghyun made fun of it.
The translator they hired was also not professional enough, she made some mistakes and kept on interrupting when the idols haven’t finished their sentences. The cute and funny leader of SHINee Onew even spotted her mistake and corrected her on the spot.
For the security part, most of them were really kind and helpful but only the big size dark hunk and some sort of leader, were really impatient, impolite and disrespectful. My sister went to the front to check on the queuing line for the merchandise and he blocked my sister, so my sister was trying to explain that she wasn’t trying to cut the line but only wanted to know how they queue and how long we have to queue, the way he replied really made people angry!
The choice of the venue was really speechless, I know the view there is nice but shouldn’t they know the weather in the Sg now? Luna fell really hard during the opening song, EXO-M’s Lay fell so damn hard and he was practically have to walk on his another leg to continue his performance. Taeyeon was almost slip during Twinkle and Younho slipped when he was getting onto the cart.
The cart driver was really stupid as you said, I saw it with my own eyes how he drove the cart with Amber and Kris on it during Like a G6. He was like a driver without license because he speed up at this moment and suddenly slower the speed at the right next moment! I was so angry that I almost shouted out: ” Hey you! get down now! I could drive a lot better than you!”
When the show was going to end soon it started raining again, I was practically didn’t get to watch the performance from catch me, electric shock, sherlock properly. We were so busy getting our ponchos on and the mood totally spoil.
Alright, I’m done with the complaining now. I would like to applause for our brightest gem Fany Fany Tiffany(because she’s my bias), thanks to whoever gave the idea of performing DJ Got Us Fallin In Love, I got to see Fany’s fan service, eye contacts in person!!! OMG!!! Her fan service was totally jjang!!!! Jjang ye yo jjang!!! <3
guess what? HAHA…is started to sing Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Seohyun and Tiffany eonni’s songs.
