The UNIVERSAL MUSIC JAPAN YouTube channel has uploaded a new video in which Taeyeon, Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun introduce the New Edition of the “The Best” album and describe the new tracks that will be included. The “New” and “Standard” editions of “The Best” will be released on October 15th.

Girls’ Generation’s website and Japanese fansite, sonejapan, have announced that Girls’ Generation will be releasing two additional versions of the group’s recent greatest hits album, “The Best“. The two versions are titled the “New” and “Standard” editions of “The Best” and will be released October 15th. Both will include a previously unreleased song, while the “New” version will also have a new track titled “Show Girls”.

To be honest, I am very relieved that they kept Jessie in the album! After all, she is part of what SNSD has been up until now, and that is what this album is all about. For a minute there I was scared they were completely cutting her out of the new edition…
It’s kinda weird to see Jessica in the picture. The sweat, blood and tears to have “The Best” include Jessica also, but the she won’t be there to enjoy her achievements with the people she worked with. I guess I still need to get used to the idea of Jessica leaving.

I’m waiting for that concert blu ray to be announced too :( looking at how long it took for the previous ones to come out I don’t think its gonna be until around December

UGH these companies are milking the frig out of us lunatic Sones. yes us lunatic Sones who have in mind to also get this edition and probably whatever other future edition(s) they might also be planning to release. that “new edition” with all the extra goody is very VERY tempting.

See the comment above by llc1281. This is such a shameless manipulation of the fans by SM, because unless someone wakes up, this is the last music by the original 9. These packages are targeted at Japan where they make most of their CD sales and have you noticed, schedule almost all the concerts. I really like the idea of a “best of” collection, but when you see multiple versions, well, you are being played by SM. The consumer has the power. Just don’t buy it! The girls are all under contract for 3 more years.
Hey Soshified, how about organizing a fan response to SM? Where do we call? Who do we email? How about an old fashioned letter writing campaign from Sone all over the world?
Re: the discussion on multiple CD editions… It is a cultural thing. In Japan, the Girls are not represented by SM, a Korean company, but by Universal Japan, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. I would guess that the arrangement is between SM and Universal. But you may notice that Girls Generations’ Japanese music videos are not on the SMTown YouTube channel, but on the Universal Japan channel. Whereas the rest of the world gets the majority of their music via digital downloads (I haven’t bought an actual CD in 10 years), Japan is still a haven for CD’s. There is an excellent New York Times article from September 16 about the phenomenon of CD’s in Japan. I know Soshified does not like links, so just Google ‘digital music in japan’ and it is the first article linked in the results. Multiple CD editions are not unique to Girls’ Generation, and it is not an attempt by SM to milk Sones. It is Universal Japan’s attempt to Milk Sones!

Do you know if and when Love & Peace concert blue ray/dvd will be released? I feel like everyone forgot about it.
I believe SNSD concert DVDs get released a looooong time after the concert ended.
