Girls’ Generation is releasing a new version of their third studio album, “The Boys”, on December 7th.
The album will be a “Mr. Taxi” version, and it will include a new jacket image. Girls’ Generation will promote their follow-up track “Mr. Taxi” on music shows starting this week on December 2nd on KBS Music Bank, and continuing until the end of December.
Mr. Taxi was a run away success as the lead song for their “First Japan Album”. The dance version of the music video for “Mr. Taxi” already has over 37 million views on Youtube. The girls hope to continue the success with the popular song in Korea.
Girls’ Generation has already won eleven awards on music shows for “The Boys”, including five wins in a row on KBS Music Bank.

DAEBAK!!!
SNSD, fighting!!!!
Oscar or Trick should be promoted… They already did the Korean version during the first week of their comeback… Come on SM.
this is unbelievable..SME should promote other song frm da soshi album…a lots of good song in their album..
Why are they making another album?? And yea I have to agree with everyone, there are new songs now so why put Mr Taxi again. :\ Oh well….
I have to agree with everyone else here – SM made a bad choice I think by promoting a song they have already promoted once. I mean, yeah, the people in Korea can finally hear the song in their native language and enjoy it but I think even they would prefer to have something new promoted.
I at least hope that the “repackaged” album has something worth buying – new songs, poster, DVD…something….
And I have to agree with a poster before me – what about the US Maxi single? Their foothold in the US is faltering now that SM has just delayed it with no announcements or anything…..I mean – all the articles in US magazines lead up to the maxi single and hyped American Audiences for it perfectly. But…now…well what’s next?
This is a disappointment. Why SME flogging a dead horse here?
Mr. Taxi is good but it’s an “old” songs which many fany still prefer it in the original Japanese version.
Give us something new SME. There some many awesome track in the album like Trick, Oscar and Top Secret but why Mr. Taxi?
So our girls have no time to take a short break anymore.
When other artists comeback this time, it will be difficult to win them.
Anyways, we have to cheer more and more. Just fine!
*sigh* I’m glad I’m not the only one disappointed. Why does it have to be December though? At least let them rest then they can make a comeback with a NEW song, not a REMAKE. And they’ve already performed the song live, haven’t they? I’ve had enough Taxis for the year. Oh well…
where is the ENG ver of this album. T T.
I also would like them to promote their new songs, but since the release of “The Boys”, the girls have performed that song many times, and also they have appeared in many talk shows, doing interviews, special programs, and the recent concert in New York.
So I guess that`s why they can`t perform any new song from their new album that requires them to dance along with a singing performance, because they would need a lot of time to do that, to train and rehearsal every single step, which was not possible due to their busy schedule.
So at least they are used performing Mr Taxi, they only have to sing it in korean now, so I hope that it won`t be tiring to them.
They probably won`t have many chances of winning more awards with the promotion of Mr Taxi korean version, well at least they have won many awards with “The Boys”, but its always nice to see them winning and saying: “kamsahamnida!”, because they always deserve to win the first place!
We have to keep cheering up for them, so they will always shine on stage and do performances that take our breath away!
Fighting!
Compare to the other songs I like Mr. Taxi. They actually have a dance choreography for it so it takes less time for them to prepare. As sones I think we should be happy that they are coming back within just 1-2 weeks.
Ummmm, hello, SM, how bout some news on that so-called US maxi single you were supposedly going to release? Not a word to your US supporters, eh?
If this is the repackaged album, I can’t say that I’m not disappointed with SM’s choice here… I really wish they would have done either a new song or Trick, or better yet, let the girls rest for a few months, THEN come back. Mr Taxi is already a song they have already promoted a few times in Korea, and a lot in Japan, so it’s not like we’re getting anything new >_< Hopefully they'll reconsider after seeing the disappointed responses? Regardless, I'll probably purchase this anyway since I'm more or less addicted to SoShi products ^-^. At least I'm sure I won't be disappointed with a new photo card or nifty packaging.
Terrible choice. Why not OSCAR, TRICK or Telepathy? Why not a new song like they usually do? They have already performed MR.TAXI Korean Ver. twice in music shows. I don’t like this one bit. Also because I’m not as fond of this song anymore and the Korean Ver. sounds wrong to me. I don’t think SM took the right decision about their follow-up song. Maybe they chose MR.TAXI because it’s less work for the girls (since they already know the dance and the song well) and because most of the members are working in other projects. But still, I’m quite disappointed. I’m sure most of the members would have preferred OSCAR or TRICK.
Even though you think it’s a terrible choice, looking at the business point of view, Mr Taxi is way more well known to the public compared to other non-title songs from The Boys album. Plus they never really had their comeback for the Mr Taxi Korean version either.
You think that most of them would agree on a subject, but in reality, if it were really up to each members to decide, each member would most likely choose a different song from one another. Why? They’ve been expressing their differences on all the titles song since Gee, which should tell you something.
But then again, would be prefer them to not promote anything at all then? You should be glad that they’re still actively promoting. Just saying.
@ Toan Nguyen : Well, it depends. If most KSONEs feel the way most of us feel, they probably would have wanted another song or a new song. Which doesn’t make it a good marketing strategy. It’s not that I won’t support them, I just wish they chose another song. It’s just like how SNSD was inactive in Korean in 2011 before The Boys and would perform Hoot everywhere. At a certain point, it’s not as fun anymore. Would I prefer if they didn’t promote anymore for the rest of the year? Well, yes maybe. Maybe a rest would be good for them considering the amount of solo projects. Plus year-end shows and all that…
I know the songs that are released as main tracks aren’t chosen by the members. I’m pretty sure most of them would not have wanted Hoot or Oh! (especially Oh!). That’s not really how it works. But the members have expressed that they all like TRICK and OSCAR a lot. It wouldn’t hurt to let them sing something they REALLY enjoy.
Toan Nguyen
Actually yes, I would rather they stopped promotions than perform the Korean version of Mr. Taxi.
Marketing strategy? Think of it this way. As businessman, looking at fans, the fans will support their artists anyway, regardless of whether they like the agencies or not. Although some (or many) does not like their move, what are they going to do? Boycott by stop buying the artists’ merchandise? That will sort of (if the impact is big enough) punish the agencies..and so the same effects on the artists. In the first place, they are already expecting a portion of the fans that cannot support their artists through buying physical goods. Now the chance of the majority of the fans (that actually support the artists physically) to have the same reaction as you is even lowered.
As for the members, things they like and things the business people want are different most of the time. The agencies wins 100% of the times, given that they can always whip out the contract. So like some people said, you should support the girls regardless. None of their promoted songs are bad, you might be tired of it because you’ve been through the stages…but they aren’t just trying to grab your attention. There are plenty of potential targets out there as well.
As for whether they should promote or not….I think you as a fans should know farewell that SNSD have a packed schedule 24/7. Even if they aren’t promoting a song, do you think SM would just give them times off? Not very likely. We aren’t professionals, I’m sure they are better at planning (that doesn’t harm them) than 99% of the fans out there.
P.S : I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t buy it when the members said on radio which songs they “like” and stuff like that. I don’t take it to heart those statements. Rather, the songs that they do not like/songs that wouldn’t success…those are more likely to be true feeling.
Toan Nguyen
Yes, I agree that it’s all about business, especially when they come up with these random plans. You don’t have to like everything they put out to support them. I don’t think it will impact the fans who buy everything the girls come out with, but honestly, what is this “Mr. Taxi” version of their album? It’s the exact same album as “The Boys”. It’s a shame that the girls who are able to try different concepts, have to reuse something they already did, and for what? To promote more on music shows they don’t even have time for? (according to other arguments, not mine) People are bragging that Girl’s Generation is a global girl group, and yet SM continues to show how cheap they are and how much their decision making revolves around making extra bucks. SM is the one controlling the packed schedules, and music is clearly not their priority, I understand that. It’s just frustrating. However, I’m sure Korean fans will support them, heck, they may even be thrilled. I, on the other hand, can only speak for myself when I say, I’m disappointed.
SNSD being a global girl group has nothing to do with whether an agency is being cheap or not. In fact, name me an entertainment agency out there who is not cheap? Like I said, they can careless what you think. At the end of the day, their goal is achieved. NOW, this is coming from the business point of view, it has nothing to do with SNSD’s image and what not. Granted, if you’re disappointed with SM, that’s fine by me. Just don’t drag the negativity you have with SM and mixed them along with SNSD (I’m not saying you as in you, but as people in general).
And again, as for time, none of us know or control the schedule. Who are we to say that they don’t have time to do what. As I’ve mentioned, if they don’t promote during that time, it doesn’t mean their schedule will free up any bit.
I speak for myself here, but I really don’t care what song they decide to promote. As long as they’re continue to sing and inspire people, I couldn’t ask for more. I don’t think about every single little details to complain over.
LMAO this was totally unexpected. At least, they could have promoted another song in the album like Oscar or even how great is your love. The girls actually need sone rest too~ but well,I’m glad we’ll be spending the rest of the remaining days of 2011 with Soshi on music shows~ I actually prefer Mr.Taxi k ver over jap ver so,it’s a yay for me!:D
Even if i wanted another song im happy because the girls already know this song and they wont be rehearsing that much like if it was a new song and they wont be so tired
Ah SM seriously this is just -_-, like come on at least do one of their other song off the album. Well I guess SM knows what they’re doing and if they think this will work then oh well good for them. I’m still going to buy this B version since I’m a freak of a S♥NE that wants any and everything Soshi puts out. I hope KS♥NEs won’t be too disappointed with this. It’s going to be tough on music shows and hope this become a success as well like their Japanese version. Btw it seems that KS♥NEs like Mr. Taxi Korean version from the looks of it being in the top 20 kchart few weeks back. Also I thought the girls would be resting from music shows and only appearing on variety shows, but nope SM have other plans. Well good luck Soshi and please take care and try to rest as much as possible. Thanks SSF for news update! :)
and yes i agree with some saying that they won’t have to learn a new choreography since they already been doing this dance for months already. Take care angels! ♥♥♥
COME ON GUYS! be a little more supportive!!! >:(
I’m looking forward to it even though I doooooooooooooo wish they did “Telepathy” instead..
But still let’s just support them and keep showing our love for our girls! ><
AUSSIE SONE FOREVER & ALWAYS! <3
Glad I’m not the only one out there. Obviously none of us majored & be successful in term of marketing, so we wouldn’t know what is better. Most people only comment thinking from a fans’ perspective…but at the end of the day, this is business we’re talking about. I’m still glad that they’re actually going to promoting again, it might be tiring…yes, but they have packed schedules regardless. If there is going to be no comeback soon, that just means that the girls will actually have t o be appear on many different shows doing other stuff. They don’t have free-times like we do when they aren’t promoting.
Hey guys now i am in seoul and i want to go to see the girls in music bank if someone of you can help me with information how to get in i really apreciated and im sorry for my bad english jaja
_Heartbreakn <—- French S♥NE on twitter was in Korea and just got back a few weeks ago, you can check her out and ask for help she will help as much as possible. She went to MuBank, Inkigayo, M! Countdown and MuCore while she was there so yeah she maybe can help guide you some. She met a lot of KS♥NEs too. Good luck! :)
I’ll support anything the girls do, but come on SME – this is kind of lame. Have them promote anything from the new album besides Mr. Taxi. I would personally love to see them perform “Telepathy”.
It will allow the girls to rest a bit since they don’t have to practice a new dance routine, but it’s still lame.
I thought I was the only one disappointed/unhappy… But seems like it’s not…
Sigh really disappointed!! Like I was hoping for a new song and bleagh ><
That’s incredibly disappointing. Are they seriously going to comeback with a remake that they’ve already performed when they came back with The Boys? What a terrible decision.
seriously???????
I love the girls but what SM are thinking??
i think it will be boring, because we’re waiting for new things and we already saw mr. taxi many times
i really hope that with a miracle tehy change the music to promote.
SNSD fighting!!!!!!!!!!
Didn’t they already perform Mr. Taxi live? I’m disappointed, I was really hoping something new would be the follow up. But I’m sure the performances will be great and I can’t wait to see the new packaging!
why does sm have to do this to us?! LOL!
its only a different album jacket…does it
seem any different…NO! but am i going to
buy it…YES!!! Damn it! you think someone
at sm gets paid to figure out how they can
make the most money. HAHA! and really
excited for mr. taxi promotions. but why
so soon, the boys is still kicking butt!!!
