Touted as the biggest K-Pop concert to ride the Hallyu wave to Europe, the SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR in PARIS exceeded all expectations with the enthusiastic reception from fans all over Europe. It also received extensive media coverage from European and Japanese media outlets, in addition to all major Korean broadcasting stations.
Featuring some of the biggest K-Pop stars such as Girls’ Generation, TVXQ!, Super Junior, SHINee and f(x), SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR in PARIS was held on June 10th and 11th at the ‘Le Zenith de Paris’, attracting more than 14,000 fans on both dates.
Soshified was fortuitously invited to the exclusive press conference held on June 11th, and our representatives had the opportunity to interview the SM artistes, including of course, Girls’ Generation. The press conference was short, lasting only 10 minutes, but it left Soshified and other media highly impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the SM Entertainment idols.
“It’s not only about France, but about Europe and the world. Where do you want to go next?” was the question posed by Micha, one of the media representatives from Soshified.
After a short pause, Tiffany jokingly asked, “Didn’t Sunny say she wanted to go to the moon? Sunny said that if possible, Mars would be very fun to go as well, but…”
However, answering the question seriously, Tiffany stated on behalf of the group of artistes that “Everybody in SMTOWN would be glad and happy to be able to go anywhere we are welcome.”
Jessica and Tiffany also displayed their bilingualism by acting as English/Korean translators between the media and other artistes of SMTOWN when there were no translations provided.
Tiffany also spoke about their experience in France, speaking in fluent English to the media. “It is actually the first time for our SMTOWN family to get to go to Europe and France in general… France is a brand new experience for all of us,” she said brightly.
After a whirlwind city tour of Paris the day before, the idols performed their hit songs including “Gee”, “Keep Your Head Down”, “Sorry Sorry”, “Lucifer”, “Pinocchio” and many others at the concert.
Dazzling the crowd with their energetic and perfectly-coordinated performances, Girls’ Generation even showed their support for Soshified by carrying our foam hearts around. Their fascination with the foam hearts, which were specially made for the event, could be seen by how they were constantly waving and playing around with them.
SM Entertainment also set new precedents on the social media front by creating an official SMTOWN Facebook page to stay connected with fans throughout the concert.
Photos of the SM artistes in the city of Paris were uploaded before, during, and after the concert ended. On the first day of the concert, videos of the live performances were uploaded to YouTube within an hour, starting with f(x)’s “LA chA TA”, and ending with Girls’ Generation’s “Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)”.
More pictures of Girls’ Generation during the press conference and both days of the concert can be found in the Soshified gallery.
After setting a milestone for K-Pop in Europe, world domination might not be a very far off goal for Girls’ Generation.
