You guys have to think about how the pop industry operates as a business. There isn’t a single action from the popstars that isn’t officially approved of by the company’s PR department. No matter how casual or small that action is, it has to be approved by the PR department before it is publicized. The more responsible idols are given longer leashes to do as they please, if they had a long track record of behaving themselves and following company rules. And we’ve all seen what happens when idols post stuff not sanctioned by the company PR department–it often causes scandals or reprimands. Opening up a Weibo account is obviously meant to cover the Chinese territory, because China has the biggest population on the planet and a gold mine of potential earnings. There’s no way it’s simply on Sicca’s whim that it happened. They probably had a PR department meeting about it. I know it’s not fun or romantic to look deeper into the business side of all of this, but anyone with sufficient life experience and understanding of the world should be able to see the logic behind any PR moves in the entertainment industry. We can love the girls and support them, but never forget at the end of the day, it’s all a business and without the business considerations, none of this (SNSD and the fanbase) would exist.
