On December 24th, Girls’ Generation made a special appearance at a SMAP concert in Sapporo, Japan. SMAP is a long-running popular Japanese boy band, which debuted in the early 1990’s. Nakai Masahiro, the leader of SMAP, held a short talk segment with Girls’ Generation before he and the members of Girls’ Generation performed the Japanese version of “Gee” together. In celebration of the holidays, Nakai put a Christmas spin on the performance by leaving in the middle of the song to don a Santa Claus outfit before joining Girls’ Generation once again. Girls’ Generation’s performance with Nakai was broadcasted on “SMAPxSMAP”, a Japanese variety show starring the members of SMAP.
Nakai Masahiro has performed several parodies of Girls’ Generation songs in the past on “SMAPxSMAP”, presenting his own versions of “Gee“, “Genie“, and “MR. TAXI“.

I’d like to see SNSD as a guest on SMAPxSMAP for real. It would be great to have SMAP cook for them and the some of the girls spass over KimTaku.
W-wait!… Sunny was sick? Was she also sick when they recorded their MBC special for their comeback? ;'[
On a lighter note… A huge thank you for SMAP! This is just as good as our girls performing in Japan’s many year of the end award shows (since u-know, they weren’t invited in any this year because of that island claiming issue b/in Japan and Korea…)! Hoping the best for our girls! Let’s support, support, support! (^∇^)ノ
Merry Christmas from the Philippines, everyone!

this is an honor for SNSD to be invited by one of Japan’s legendary group. this to me is like SMAP showing love and respect for SNSD. i’m grateful because this might help broaden the girls fanbase in Japan. it’s sad that only 8 were on stage because of Sunny’s illnest she couldn’t be present. hope babygirl get well soon and can join her 8 girls again. also pray for Soshi to be well in health and strength during their promotions.
