On December 10th, Girls’ Generation’s second Japanese album, “Girls’ Generation II ~Girls & Peace~”, was certified “Platinum” by the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
“Girls’ Generation II ~Girls & Peace” was released on November 28th and earned the “Platinum” certification by shipping over 250,000 albums. In its first week of release, the album ranked third on Oricon’s Weekly Album Chart and remains in the top ten on Oricon’s Daily Album Chart. Earlier this year, Girls’ Generation’s first Japanese album was certified by the RIAJ for shipping over one million albums.
Girls’ Generation will be starting their second arena tour in Japan in February of 2013.

hi sones does it mean that all versions of the album are counted into the charts? or is it only the deluxe first press one, im contemplating whether to buy the deluxe first press or the first press one..
Edit: i just checked out yesasia, they wrote that deluxe first press is out of print, if i wait a little longer will it be restocked?

w00t! Proud of our Girls’ new Album. As one of the many people who bought the Deluxe First Print Limited Edition, I can say Congratulations!
I’m always proud of our girls, always make us happy ^^
As expected girls, congratulation! :D
First of all, congrats. Being a SONE, of course I’m very happy about it.
However, I am quite confused about the RIAJ certification which is based on shipping quantity rather than sales figure. It seems that the Paparazzi single and The Boys album for example have higher sales than Girls & Peace, but they were only certified as GOLD. So it’s all depends on how many you can ship out of the factory?
if the single(s) continue to sell then eventually it will moved up to platinum status which would be 250k shipped. so since Girls & Peace is a hot product eventually all those 250k shipment are going to be sold out later on and then there’s going to be another 100k shipped and so on as long as it sells. same thing that happen with their 1st Japan album.
