The “2012 MelOn Music Awards” officials explained, “We are planning on creating a music festival where we can look back at music trends while loved artists and music lovers can share interests. With the participation of MBC Music, we are preparing the best performances and directions.”
The event will be aired live through MBC Music, MBC every1, and YouTube.
A total of 16 awards will be given, and they consist of the “MelOn Music Awards Top10”, along with artist, album, global artist awards, popular, music style, and special awards. The music style and pop awards were newly added.
An account on MelOn is required to be able to vote. However, registration is limited to South Korean residents. Voting from MelOn users will account for 20% of the votes for each award. With the increased popularity of K-Pop all over the world, the “Global Star Award” will be awarded based on YouTube view counts and popularity.
The first voting cycle, which will pick the top 10, will open on November 15th until November 28th. The results will be revealed on MelOn’s homepage on November 29th. The 30 nominees for the “2012 MelOn Music Awards” were chosen by calculating the number of downloads, which accounted for 60% of the vote, and streaming number, which accounted for 40% of the vote.

Although I am probably a completely bias and hardcore SONE i do consider myself quite level headed and is it just me but i think TTS has to be THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SUB-UNIT if not then ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL!! >< <3 SNSD

I hope SNSD-TTS can win some awards from this event. IMO, twinkle has a very good popularity around the world, as example, twinkle was able to reach #126 in US billboard which is the best spot ever for korean musician in US billboard. (BoA #127) In South Korea, we knew that TTS have won several trophies, such as mubank, mnet countdown, show champion, etc. So, TTS can be said as one of the best subunit in South Korea. Plus the voting power from K-SONEs, I think TTS will be able to get some awards, like artist of the year and global artist of the year. I hope sooo.. Hoho..

as the award season approaches, i will forewarn
everyone that i believe, in the realm of korean
musical entertainment, that this will be the year
of gangnam style. it has dominated the international
music for several months now, and is one of the
most viral videos of all time. it may have been part
of sm’s plan to put off the girls’ comeback due to
the overshadowing it would receive from psy’s
success. so do not be surprised or upset that
gangnam style is most likely to rule the day. i will
be doing all i can for TTS, and all i can for snsd,
but it may be better in the long run that snsd
put off their comeback so that they can sweep
the award shows next year!!!

I have a feeling the girls will win at least a “Top 10” award and maybe 1 other award.. but for the 3 “big” awards, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Artist of the Year, it might be a bit difficult to win them as I think SNSD-TTS, didnt sell as many as the other artists who comeback this year.. I wish them luck anyway.. I like to be surprised when i least expect it..
