S.M. Entertainment
2012 Global Auditions
2012 SM Global Auditions will be held in 15 cities within five countries – Korea, China, USA, Canada, and Japan – for three months beginning January 2012.
S.M. Entertainment (SM), the company that has produced many famed K-pop artists such as BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, SHINee and f(x), has announced its plans to hold a grand-scaled global audition. SM Global Auditions have been an annual event since 2006. Through these auditions, SM has been able to discover talented young artists such as Henry, who was the finalist of the 2006 global auditions and is now a member of Super Junior M, as well as current f(x) member Amber who auditioned in 2007 in the US.
In the New Year SM begins its next search to find the next generation of Artists. As a result of the Korean wave, the popularity of K-Pop singers has reached new heights and SM expects its next line of auditions to attract a lot of fierce competition. The SM Global Auditions
will take place in New York on February 18th, Chicago on February 20th, San Francisco on February 26th, Los Angeles on March 3rd, as well as Korea, Japan and Canada.
Auditions are open for anyone and there is no application fee.
Applications can be sent via e-mail to: [email protected], [email protected] or
YouTube (www.youtube.com/audition).
Finalists will be given the opportunity to sign an exclusive contract with S.M. Entertainment.
This contract will cover all initial costs in launching a musical career.

I think S.M. entertainment begins to put more concentration on China market. It is really a good news for the large numbers of fans in China. They could not only appreciate the brilliant performancesstars from S.M. they could also show themselves!! Wonderful!

Good luck to all those peeps going for auditions in SM. Y’all know what’s up if you get pick, better be prepare to work hard to become a great artist under SM. Keep SM in the leader’s position for the Hallyu wave because they are the company to start it off with kpop groups. SM = GODFATHER OF KPOP! The BEST company anyone could be under. :)

Awww man! Wish I was in Canadaaaa T_T! I lived there, but now I’m back again in my stupid country, wich is Brazil! T_T
Please, dont say things like that about our country, Brazil…
Every country has its bad and good sides.
You just cant say that a contry is stupid!
It doesnt matter where you live, you have to be proud of your nationality.
Im japanese but Im from Brazil, oh… I wish I could join this contest…
I joined the contest from SBS KPOP Star, I didnt pass, but it was lots of fun to join a contest like that!
Also I tried to join the contest for “The Boys Worldwide Cover” but I dont know why my dance video wasnt accepted…

Zettaini mi ni ikimasu. Shigoto yasunde, tabun dekinain desu kedo, kankeinai……
JIYUUUUUUU
The sad thing about the audition : WHY WON’T THEY HOLD JUST ONE TIME IN SINGAPORE ? D:
Agreed
Exactly.:/
ya true :D if in sg i think many will go apply !! haha ;3 so will other country~
‘m an asian but not a korean. can i audition too?
yes anyone is free to audition like amber from fx and jessica from snsd didnt she like have to learn korean but i think everyone is welcome
i wanna take part!! but i am in sg….
to Grizzlei’s comment…they absolutely prefer
you to be korean. you would have to be really,
really good for them to consider a non-korean.
it’s like going to a chinese restaurant. i have
never seen a non-asian working there. i know
because a friend of mine went in asking for a
job, and they said no because he wasn’t asian.
and, like you, i don’t mean to offend anyone,
but just basing the following statement off
observation, and being as light-hearted and
non-accusational as possible when saying this…
the one “poeple” that i’ve come across that are
more racist than americans are asians. LOL! and
i’m not trying to sound high and mighty, i’m american,
so i’m admitting that we’re awful with it too. so
you’ll be hardpressed to make it through if you
are not of korean decent, and definitely if you
are not asian. on a side note… i saw the first video
a hundred times at SMTown NYC. HAHA!
Omg… They’ll be so busy next year.
ALL THE BEST FOR GG & SMENT!
HWAITTING!
I’d do it just to have fun, guess the only bad thing that could come from it would be kicked out for sounding absolutely terrible and breaking windows. Hope to see some other Sone’s at the Vancouver auditions!
Though on a serious note, and I hope that this doesn’t come across the wrong way…but would S.M. Entertainment take a preference to Asian-North Americans, preferably with Korean skills than any other ethnicity? From the little that i’ve seen of Korean television, film, and music, it doesn’t seem like there’s a whole lot of non-Asian foreign ethnicities represented in their culture. Note again, I don’t mean anything offensive over this.
Of course. Korea is a very homogeneous nation. They don’t claim to want to be a diverse nation like Western countries, so naturally the preference will be towards people of Korean descent.
Ahhh, thank you!
