Wow, i love this interview. Everyone should really read it. It's so deep and heartfelt. Their answers are so mature yet, candid. Not something you would expect from an idol group. And i'm glad they addressed the DC happenings, even if it's just a small paragraph. At least we knw their opinions on it. They handled it rly well, considering they had a reporter that had a prejudiced about them in the beginning.

And i think that Jessica is the one who wanted to be the international lawyer. Since she said she would want to go to NYU. I remembered it from the her 84 qns thing. It's more likely that the americans in the SNSD wanted to go to NYU rather than the others. And since tiffany didnt attend the interview, that leaves us with our Sica. And i think the reporter kinda give us a hint when he said ''(Her words dampened the mood)'' Sica effect anyone.. ^_^ Anyway, i think she would make a great lawyer. She has that aura around her.

Btw, thank you Jstn, for taking the time and effort in translating this really really long interview. Really appreciate it! :D

But Seohyun was the one that got discovered at the subway when she was 12. Was she not, or maybe I'm mistake, because I assumed it was Seohyun, and NYU is popular around the world, just because NY is also well known.

But I do remember Sica talking about wanting to be a lawyer, but I've never heard her talk about getting casted in the subway, esp since she lived in Cali rofl.

I think Jessica is the one who wants to be an international lawyer. She said she was casted at 12 years old bla bla bla.. and they said "she" dampened the mood LOL!!

And about the romance novel thingy, I think it's Jessica too.. I'm into romance novels too..

I also enjoyed reading this interview for all I could have told the interviewer would be harsh on the girl within the first paragraph.
Interestingly enough, his questions and the girlsâ?? unexpected answers whet my taste for wishing the interview to be longer. :p
This interview made me tried so hard to recognize who answered and how it related to the current events happening to the girls. Some of the answers stood out to me while reading and made me wanted to leak my tears. Throughout this interview, I can feel their maturity and strength. My body was stunted when I read this, â??I had a dream before but I gave up on it long time ago.â? I like this interview a lot and thank you for the translation! ^^

This interview was definitely one of the best- so before I forget, THANK YOU FOR TRANSLATING THIS JSTN.

Definitely heartfelt. Fack- I'm so used to those haters just NITPICKING on details-...I don't know. I'm really glad the girls showed their frustrations in this interview. I just really feel that this was a sincere interview and it really touched me. There's just so many people that loves the girls more than the nitpicking antis...I hope the girls will ALWAYS remember that first.
(I actually wish more that the antis would shut up actually...but...)

I'm also quite glad to hear that their concepts will grow with them- I was wondering, far back in my mind, how long this concept will last as the girls grow. I know it's a sooner or later reality Soshi disbands- but I think I will be with this group every step of the way.
It's not easy to watch a celebrity (group or not) 'grow', and harder to stay loyal. I'm glad to say I'll probably be Soshified for a very, very long time.

Definitely a good interview. Especially for fans (me being one) who went through a troublesome stage with the DC fiasco and discouragement from friends. If you truly loved Soshi for their concept, the Power of Nine, the SoshiBong, the girl's dorkiness AND maturity- this is definitely a must read.

Au contraire to some of you, I didn't feel the interviewer was "looking down" on the girls at all. He(she?) showed the doubt that most unSoshified people have. Their 'innocence and girlish' image and all- contrasting to how 'real' they are (I don't really get it now, how these things are related...)

The girls had to go through a LOT. Mental maturity, endurance and perseverance- a real passion. I can only begin to see what they are talking about. People who have those star dreams, think they are 'stuffed toys'...don't really see the process they had to go through. The girls deserve all the support they can get. Will get.

This will get to be an extremely long rant if I continue typing what I felt about each question and answer.
All I can say is, this is a must read. At least, it was for me.

SoNyuhShiDae, I love you girls. I wish you ALL the luck and all the successes coming along your way.

You don't need protection, and one girl like me halfway around the world can't do much either.
All I can do is to love you girls and remain Soshified. Honestly Soshified.

SoNyuhShiDae, hwaiting. <3

thank you so much for sharing this.
this interview has made me understand SNSD so much more. i've known that it took a lot of hardwork for trainees to debut, but i can tell that it's even harder than what i had expected (since they wouldn't recommend that road to any of their loved ones). the interviewer seems to really doubt their innocence. lol. but it's not like the girls are always that innocent. just like this interview, everyone seemed to have spoke from their heart and told the world that they're not little girls, they're just as mature as older women. it's hard to believe that 9 girls with 9 different dreams would end up in the same road, traveling down the same path. but it happened. and i hope the girls continue to fight and show the world the best of themselves. soshi fighting! <3

First of all, thanks for translating the interview,
it was an excellent read, and gave us a little more insight about what the girls are going through.
I am a little sad that, being in an idol group, they have to restrict and sensor their words carefully so that "netizens" don't attack them.
I hope that the girls find a new strength to survive in the harsh entertainment world.
I'm still gonna support them 100%~

Wow, this interview mustve taken forever to translate!
It was a touching and inspiring interview. They spoke so honestly and said what was really on their minds. The reporters comments were interesting to read~ There's so many great quotes from this interview, I think it's the best one yet!

Thanks so much!

Thanks a lot for this, your work is very much appreciated ^^

Wow this was quite an unexpected interview. It sure showed a different side of the girls, not sure if all the answers were 100% what they really felt but they were probably more genuine than in any of their other interviews. It makes you think about lots of things, esp. what it must be like being in their shoes.

Btw, when was this interview made or when was it published?

First, thank you jstn so much for this great translation. I really appreciate your time and effort, seeing how long this article was.

I don't think I can love the girls any more than I already do. Their answers surprised me, and yet not so. They're more matured than people expected, and they're more realistic than I thought. Unlike the reporter, I don't feel like that some of their answers were "manufactured". Although they may have been taught to do things a certain way, I doubt that they could carry that act up until now. Their answers were blunt and honest, shocking even the reporter himself. I realize that he came to this interview with some prejudice, but I was happy the girls were given a chance to answer honestly without fearing repercussions. A bit disappointed that we didn't get to know who said what, but I think it's better that way if we want the girls to be as truthful with their replies as possible.

I could feel their love for one another, their passion for their dreams, and even their frustrations for certain things. For example, their competition against the Wonder Girls. I'm glad that the girls lashed back at the reporter for insinuating that their answers weren't honest. Also, I especially felt bad for Hyoyeon when she described about the picture. People/antis get caught into this whole hating business that they forget these are just teenage girls.

Reading this article just gave me a newfound appreciation for the girls. They work hard for their dreams. A lot of sweat mixed with tears. I hope that they can continuously improve themselves and strive to be the best. They're not at the top yet, and it's going to take a while, but don't worry girls, your fans are with you all the way.

Again, thank you for your time and effort in translating this article. Best interview of SNSD yet.

BTW, I agree with Soy that it was Seohyun who wanted to be a lawyer. She was the only one who got casted from the subway. Just read the answer and you can guess it's our maknae. She's always giving replies like she's lived all there is to live (even if she's only 17). â??I had a dream before but I gave up on it long time ago.â?

As mean as the reporter is, I'm glad that he was that blunt. It got the girls to take a stand and say more than what broadcasting usually allows them to say. As the interview progressed, both sides started speaking impromptu. It almost became like a heated debate.

I can't say I'm surprised about what the girls said. A lot of their responses fall parallel to what I thought when I read the questions. It wasn't their line of thinking that surprised me but rather the fact that they actually spoke their minds. I expected the girls to show a little more moderation. It was a pleasant surprise.

This interview really sparked my curiousity now. Now I really want to see SNSD in person more than ever.

umm ya.. i thought it was maknae too but the interview didn't specify who said what so it's kinda confusing.
the newspaper reporter probably messed up and made a mistake by combining jessica and maknae's responses together.

I've read this interview already. But I think that was another version. Or this is biased translation. Actually, the most arguable or notable part of the interview was plastic surgery thing. There was big debate about this in Korean website. In the version I read, he wrote "As a surgeon, I'm sure that they got plastic surgery." somthing like that. (The reporter is not professional reporter. He is a surgeon and runs big hospital.)

Wow, just WOW. This is seriously the most in-depth interview of an artist i've ever read about. I'm really glad that they're very strong and they will keep showing more of themselves! SOSHI HWAITING!! <3 Aw, sica wanted to be a lawyer (a very hawt one indeed). And she's the one who always reads..haha..dang. I feel so useless compared to them, i'm just a year or two younger than them. -_-

thanks for the translate. ^^

edit : eh...it was seohyun who want to be a lawyer?? Sorta knew it since she's the one who loves to study. XD

Wow~ This is seriously the best SNSD interview I've ever read~ Too bad there are only seven of them who were in the interview >< But that's good enough..either way, I'm sure the other two will say exactly the same answer as the other 7~

I've been a fan of SNSD ever since they debuted...so I kinda have the idea of what they went through in order to get themselves on top~ Everybody is definitely a hardworker, no doubt about it~ And yeah, all the answers they gave...they're all honest and came from themselves directly, no management preparations given, etc. And ever since they debuted, you can always see one thing that haven't changed from them: modesty~

What I also like about this interview, the reporter's expression is included~ Haha there are even some expressions taht showed how he was startled when the girls gave her answers that he didn't expect.

Hmm...even the Soo Man way of managing his artists is involved too. I can't believe that they are still going on about this~ As for me, no matter what the rumours about him, I still respect LSM *^^* He might be making our wallets drained, but he sure knows how to make us love his singers and artists *^^*

Thank you very much for this translation~ I really enjoyed reading this, I love long interviews ^^

-you guys are going through some tough times with the fanclub situation right? What is your view on what a true fanclub culture should be like?

“I wish we can just enjoy it together. Being a celebrity is about enjoying the time with your fans. But there are people that want to destroy that mood. They pick on every little detail. It’s frustrating. I think it should be changed. There is some mob mentality against celebrities. I realize that every time we read comments on the internet. We get scared sometimes.
(During the same timeframe as the interview, the ’10 minute silence’ happened due to fanclub conflicts and Girls’ Generation had to post an apology letter on their homepage.)

Agreed. You go, girls!
Soshi hwaiting.

It's so sweet to read this kind of thoughtful interview. I just saw a very deep side of the girls, which makes me even like them more. Every answer to every question seemed well prepared, tho they answered just in seconds. It's pretty hard actually to answer like this so thoughtfully, without writing it down or resentencing it in your mind long enough.
I'm so glad that the girls still stay honest and true to themselves even with all the rumours, internet comments etc.

This was a really good interview. Thanks for the hardwork in translating this long article for us, jstn!

i am almost craving a more in depth interview that's completely unbiased. this interview was certainly a step above most interviews and some of the questions hit hard, and the girls delivered. unexpected, honest, and confident answers. even so, i feel like things still are being held back due to managers and their companies. but in a conservative industry like korea's this interview is really pretty refreshing. i'm hoping more will appear.

oh and the one word describe my feelings of the girls after this: impressed.

holy COW! that was some interview. first of all, thank you for sharing this with us. you can totally feel the emotion coming from their hearts. the question regarding the honesty in their answers and how the girls replied asking why people just don't believe their answers felt like the girls were finally putting their feet down. i completely agree with them because there are a lot of people who just won't take their words for it and say their answers are rehearsed. like how some people don't believe it was them who actually wrote that letter of gratitude and apology. this just made me even more proud of them. it just goes to show how strong they are inside and out. you can still feel the hurt and pain they felt during the 10-minute silence. gotta love these girls for having the strength to continue on. you can tell they're being honest. this is probably the best interview the girls have had.

wow...this was really worth the read...(although im just tired now...haha ><)
Reading this tho....I am really proud of the girls...they have been through a lot ever since their trainee days...and u can tell they have matured and found out about themselves even more...although i admit that i do have my favorites and i like seeing my favs out there the most, but i'm waiting for the day that everyone gets their fair share of the spotlight...^^
haha the international lawyer part was def. SeoHyun...just seems so her (sometimes she makes me feel that shes the most mature one out of the group for some reason...i always feel like she has experienced all that there is to experience in life alreay lol...but i hafta admit at first i thought it was Jessica (about the NYU part and such...) but then subway = seohyun..haha ><)
well anyways, Thank you for the long translations!
Soshi FTW ^^
