The website for “TIME” magazine recently released its list of the “25 Best Songs of 2014 (So Far)“. Now halfway into the year, some of the magazine’s contributors decided to compile what they felt were the most impressive songs in the last six months, “from blockbuster pop singles to epic indie ballads, ace songs from artists both new and established”.
“Mr.Mr.” is in the middle of the list, along with the likes of Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey. “TIME” contributor Lily Rothman comments that, “Fans of K-Pop juggernaut Girls’ Generation…won’t be disappointed by their latest dance-friendly single”, and the new “scratchy electronic bass line and a hint of darkness” make “Mr.Mr.” the newest addition to the girls’ already vast repertoire.
Girls’ Generation’s latest title track has been garnering attention across the globe. To celebrate, check out the “Mr.Mr.” music video, for the first time or the umpteenth, below.

American and other Western critics and media have had high praise for SNSD since 2011. Unfortunately nobody at SM seems to notice.
I suppose that they’ve become to complacent thinking, ”Oh SNSD will always be on top anyway.” Gosh, this is why they aren’t as innovative with their artists. But let’s not mind that. Let’s all just relish on the fact that the girls’ hardwork and effort never go to waste. They deserve the recognition.
*too complacent
Too lazy and greedy. SM just wants to milk Japan with SNSD and then put the girls out to pasture and concentrate on their newer groups. Very sad. SM has prevented SNSD from reaching their full potential as global stars.
I think it’s because SM’s being careful of releasing things in US Market. Maybe they don’t want SNSD to end up like Wonder Girls. And also, BoA’s current standing in the US is not that great.
Congrats SNSD. This is Good
wow! Congrats SOSHI! <3 <3 <3

as expected!,Soshi jjang!!!^-^V♥
I don’t get it why some people in korean industry stated this single of mr.mr mini album was kind of a bit disappointed. The song is really good. it has different feels, I felt in love the first time I listened to it. Mr.mr is in the list of my favorite tracks, along with the boys,IGAB,promise,ITNW,forever.
There’s no word of failure in snsd.
Maybe because the style of the song is not suitable for them. I think it’s just the matter of taste.
Just like I Got A Boy, many korean says it’s not good, but it’s popular among international fans.
And i think Mr Mr is also more into non korean fans
As expected!!! Our queens of girl groups!!:D Congratulations~ Fighting Unnies~^^~
when the other said that our Girls comeback kind of failure, the WORLD knew that our girls NEVER failure and STILL be the “K-Pop juggernaut”
#ProudToBeSones #LoveGirlsGeneration #RightNowTomorrowForeverIsGirlsGeneration
Daebak!!!
Despite the setback and many problems that Mr Mr faced in the beginning, they still prove that they’re still the Queen of Girlgroups…
“K-pop Juggernaut”… I love that expression!
Congratz girls!
W00t grats to our girls
wow, this was unexpected and great! Mr Mr!
Oh, and this was the only Asian song on the list.
Congrats, SNSD!
whoop whoop that’s all i wanna know if the song was the only Asian song on the list. thanks for that. i’m so frigging proud of our girls and even proud and respect those Sone and random fans who support the song/album. i’m very please to see the song is being more embrace abroad than locally in S.K. it’s sad because truly i was hoping the Korean residents embrace it more but i’m guessing it’s not their cup of tea. i really hope that the Billboard article(s) and TIME article(s) will grant the girls more exposure to the international entertainment world. i’m still praying for the girls to finally announce working on English album and will hold a official World Tour. lawd i need our 9 angels to save me from what’s playing over and over here on the radio. my ipod is my only savior at the moment. >_<
@llc1281, unfortunately, it seems like half of the girls Korean audience is upset because they are not 16 years old holding lollipops when they sing anymore. The fact that the girls of SNSD have grown up and have a more mature sound, versus the ageyo songs of their earlier career, is hard for them to accept.
SM is definitely milking Japan right now, as it is a large market, but it is peanuts compared to what a breakthrough in the US would be. American music media has been heaping nothing but praise the girls way with both IGAB and Mr Mr. The girls have already won over members of the toughest group to win over….media critics.
The only way forward for the girls is an all English album. I know they have a record label in Japan and I’m pretty sure they have one in the US also. I agree with you totally about needing the girls to save us from the garbage that is played on the radio here in the US.
SM….all you gotta do is find the 10 most melodic songs you can find, have the girls record them in English, and stand back and watch the magic of these nine angels….and you will be rolling in money the likes you have never seen or dreamed of. They will succeed where the Wonder Girls failed…..nobody works harder than our girls. And nobody has “the sound’ like Girls Generation.
In my 50 years of life, there are certain music groups that have “the sound.”….that is a sound that is uniquely theirs. This uniqueness is what creates their long term success. Nobody else in K-pop sounds like SNSD.
Yes yes. Our girls are K-pop juggernauts! :D
wow, this is amazing!!!
Time magazine loves our girls :)
