[PERF] Kim Bum Soo ft. Kim Taeyeon - Man and a Woman

11 February 2014 - 11:10 AM

I can't stop listening to this song so I decided to make a review about it (Thank you Soshified for this section.) This is my first time doing a review so this is not detailed.

note: I am reviewing Taeyeon's performance only. Kim Bum Soo's great already. :)

This song was performed twice. The 2009 version was performed in ChinChin Radio. The latest, the 2013 version, was performed at Kim Bum Soo's concert.

So here are the videos. (Somehow, it appears white when I embedded it.)

2009 version: This version is not that refined. I really love Taeyeon and Kim Bum Soo's voice but I think they somehow don't connect to this song. Taeyeon is not singing her heart. She is kinda emotionless when singing this. There is this feeling that she worries more on her singing technique instead of showing the emotion of the song. I don't bash Taeyeon (she is my ultimate bias btw). This is purely my opinion.  I think their harmony is great, it's just that they don't have that chemistry (in this version) to keep me from playing this version over and over again.

2013 version: I love the bossanova feel of this song. It somehow lightens the mood of the song. Taeyeon has dramatically improved. She sings emotionally now unlike before. I can now feel the emotions of the song like I'm just listening to a couple making vows to each other. Their harmony is really great here. I think this is one of the best performance Taeyeon has done a duet with a singer outside SNSD/SM.

Conclusion: You can definitely find the difference of these versions. You can also see the improvements of Taeyeon's singing for the past 4 years. If you happened to be a new SONE or a new Taenganger, I will recommend this one. :D
