I RESPECT EITHER AND UNDERSTAND THAT CONCERTS ARE EXPERIENCED DIFFERENTLY DEPENDING ON THE PERSON AND THEIR SEATING. THIS IS JUST MY TAKE ON THINGS AND YES, I AM A SONE (FORGIVE MY RANDOM SPAZZING) SO I AM A BIT BIASED. BUT I DID GIVE ALL GROUPS (EVEN THE ONES THAT I’M NOT A FAN OF) A FAIR CHANCE AND TRIED TO BE AS UNBIASED AS POSSIBLE FOR A HUMAN OR BETTER YET, K-POP FANGIRL…
SOME FANDOMS MIGHT GET OFFENDED. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED****
Before you ask how on earth I managed to get tickets for both nights while not even living in Europe… I still can’t believe how I got the first tickets (for Day02) and the story on how I got tickets for Day01 should have another post for itself. Truly was the best graduation present ever though!
Please overlook the lack of quality in some of the pictures! I promise that DAY02 pictures were much better so please endure the bad quality DAY01 pictures. Also, Day01 is basically me stating the highlights of the show and my opinion on performances (Sorry in advance if they are not in the exact order, I sadly can’t remember everything). Day02 is more of a fanaccount in the sense that I saw pairing moments, and got deep impressions of the groups from their interactions with the audience, each other, and me (Yes ME! It still hasn’t sunk in!)
Thank you and enjoy!
110610 SMTOWN PARIS DAY 01
So I almost missed the show because of the traffic (even though I left an hour and a half early) but once I got through the chaotic seating with my so-so French to help and finally sat down, I couldn’t but feel a mix of relief, excitement, and incredulity of finally being at the concert. My seat wasn’t amazing on Day01 since I was in the nosebleed section of the nosebleed section (Picture below should give you an idea) but I wasn’t complaining, I was just happy to be there.
http://i51.tinypic.com/6jpy4h.jpg
While waiting for the show to start, a video would play on the three big screens that introduced the artists. Fans would scream when their favorite group appeared, which caused confusion on those who still hadn’t gotten through the mob of people trying to get inside because they were worried the show had already begun. It was easy to notice the amount of fans of each group by the screams heard during the video. It also gave me a general but accurate prediction of how the fans were going to be during the entire show: TVXQ! got the loudest, SHINee got the second loudest, SuJu with the third loudest (but there was barely a difference so these two could be easily switched), f(x) with the fourth loudest, and SNSD with the weakest cheers (which I didn’t think too much about at first because my naïve SONE mind thought the fans just hadn’t arrived yet). That summed up how the groups were treated throughout the show but I will get more on that later.
After participating in a never-ending crowd wave, the lights finally dimmed and the show began with a familiar tune… LA chA TA.
http://i53.tinypic.com/1z4jxg1.jpg
It was a great song to start the show because everyone knew it and it managed to get the crowd pumped. Unsurprisingly, Amber received the most screams as fans spazzed over everything she did (Guilty!). Once the song ended, f(x) introduced themselves and were greeted with loud cheers. I love how well these girls were received. They spoke the simplest French (bonsoir, je suis, nous sommes, etc.) but it was enough for fans to go crazy.
http://i54.tinypic.com/1r98w2.jpg
After their introductions, Krystal in English said that the next song she would be performing would be with her sister Jessica (her accent has become less prominent… or has it always been that way and for some reason I thought it was thicker? Still was very cute!). At that point I began to spazz until I heard “Wake up in the morning…” everything was a blur because I was going to see JESSICA! In the flesh! Like many SONES noticed, she has gained a bit of weight, which I am so happy about! I prefer curvy Jess (like ITNW era) than any other! Though I did wish for them to sing a newer song as Tik Tok has become rather old, it was a great performance nonetheless!
http://i53.tinypic.com/2v0bazp.jpg
SICA!
http://i55.tinypic.com/r94msn.jpg
Jessica and Krystal are truly blessed with amazing genes!
F(x) came back on to perform Chu which was fun, especially when the crowd yelled with Krystal, “AMBER!”
After the song finished, the SHINee boys entered with “Stand by me”. I love BOF so I obviously love this song. Once it ended, they introduced themselves like f(x). Taemin got the most screams, which again, didn’t surprise me. Their French was cute and gave the French Shawols some spazzing moments. Not anything really memorable for non-Shawols.
http://i54.tinypic.com/294gnrt.jpg
They sang Replay, Juliette, and some other song that I’m not familiar with (Sorry to all Shawols! Wish I could give a better description but I don’t know many of their songs ><). They performed great and even kept someone who doesn’t know their songs to stay pumped.
The mood took a calmer turn when Super Junior KRY came on and sang “Sorry Sorry Answer.” Amazing performance that had fans waving their glow sticks to and fro. After they’re performance came on of the funniest moments of the night.
http://i55.tinypic.com/zml5ap.jpg
LADY HEEHEE! And don’t forget the three Beyonces! SuJu truly are entertainers above all else!
http://i54.tinypic.com/bfi1xx.jpg
Things slowed down a bit when a familiar piano melody began. Enter Goddess Seohyun and you’ve got one lovely performance.
http://i53.tinypic.com/symr7r.jpg
She really looked like a goddess. Even from so far away, I couldn’t help but admire her beauty… Kyuhyun was handsome too… but I couldn’t take my eyes of Seohyun. On another note, I thought Kyuhyun was quite somber during all of his performances… Frankly, he looked exhausted (poor guy!).
http://i56.tinypic.com/10zwi6c.jpg
The ending was cute and caused many squeals! Makes me wonder how awkward they feel…
Next came a rap featuring SuJu and SHINee. Don’t know the song but the crowd liked it.
http://i51.tinypic.com/30ljmz8.jpg
I had already begun to get anxious because SNSD had yet to appear when the lights shut off again. It was only when I heard the familiar beat of Run Devil Run that I suddenly lost it and truly became a fangirl. SOSHI HAD ARRIVED!
http://i56.tinypic.com/4joui1.jpg
http://i51.tinypic.com/k2lfur.jpg
The girls looked so gorgeous and their choreography was spot on as always! Once RDR finished, the girls introduced themselves (and took off their sweaters… thank you to the heat! We got to see some skin!) but I don’t think they really practiced their intros because Jessica started to talk but was cut off by Taeyeon, who ended up beginning the individual intros. I think that Taeyeon decided to speak first because she is the leader, but Jessica was at the start of the row so she thought she should begin. I think the confusion is part of the reason why Taeyeon didn’t get as many cheers. She didn’t give the fans a chance. Of all the groups who had introduced themselves so far, SNSD had spoken the most French. Some of them used the generic “Bonsoir, je suis” while Jessica and Tiffany spoke English. Sooyoung, Yuri, and Tiffany were the ones who mixed it up and said other phrases. Yuri’s “Ça va?” was adorable! Sooyoung and Tiffany’s French surprised me! Especially their pronunciations! I think that Tiff spoke the best, but maybe it’s because she spoke in English. (I loved her HELLO PARIS!). And how she thanked everyone for giving them the opportunity to come to Paris (Fany I love you!)

http://i51.tinypic.com/2rwlpv6.jpg
http://i56.tinypic.com/ncnrds.jpg
But one of the best moments of the night was when it was Hyoyeon’s turn to introduce herself. I will be honest, my bias is Taeyeon and she got the least cheers but that was soon forgotten the moment I heard the screams (mine included) Hyoyeon received. Her surprised, yet genuinely happy and touched expression melted my heart and nearly brought me to tears. This girl truly deserves it and I still get goose bumps just thinking about it.
http://i51.tinypic.com/2w4zqfl.jpg
Sunny who received the second loudest cheers, went “Oh la la” which made me laugh! I loved the fact that Hyoyeon, Sunny, and Sooyoung received the loudest cheers. They truly deserved it and as a SONE I am proud of the F-SONES. The most underrated finally received recognition!
http://i53.tinypic.com/21lpiqf.jpg
The girls then sang My Child and during the bridge of the song, they marched throughout the entire stage, waving at everyone, not just the people in general admission. I think that they did the best job communicating and interacting with the fans. They truly took advantage of the venue as a whole.
http://i54.tinypic.com/2psriir.jpg
Yoona is sooo pretty!
The next song was Kissing You, and they interacted some more with the fans. It really was joy to watch and be a part of. Yuri was soo funny! She jumped in a circle (In kkab fashion), sending hearts to everyone!
SuJu came next with Super Girl and some other song. They did really well with the venue as well. The crowd went wild for them and Leeteuk even prepared his French on paper. He also thanked all the other countries that came to the show. SuJu are such crowd pleasers, from Donghae receiving a rose but kissing it and giving it back, to Leeteuk taking someone’s phone and taking a picture of himself and giving the phone back, to Siwon taking his shirt off. All though I’m not an ELF and only have heard/like few of their songs, I have a newfound respect for them as they truly tried to make the night memorable for everyone.
SNSD appeared again and performed HaHaHa and Himnae. This gave them more chances to interact with the crowd and each performance was fantastic!
SuJu came on again to sing two other songs that I didn’t know but the crowd seemed to really enjoy it.
When I saw the screen turn into a very familiar backdrop, my leg automatically started rising to perform the choreography and my voice got louder than ever. This was the song that turned me into a SONE so of course I was spazzing more than ever. I had always always always wanted to take part in the Genie cheers but a screen had always been in the way so I could not believe it was actually happening.
http://i56.tinypic.com/2nk4bpc.jpg
Many people have been complaining online that the girls should have sung live and Soshi has been getting much heat, but I want to point something out: EVERYONE DID IT! I think the only group that might have tried not to was TVXQ! All the others were actually very obvious, more so than SNSD, but those videos weren’t posted on YouTube so people don’t realize it. Just wanted to clear that up.
http://i55.tinypic.com/2ptchkz.jpg
FANY!
http://i54.tinypic.com/k2ck1h.jpg
SOOYOUNG!
F(x) appeared afterwards and performed Nu ABO, which surprised me since I thought it would be performed later…
SHINee performed Ring Ding Dong, which was a stellar performance. Their choreography was on point and synchronized so props to them!
SuJu returned with Don’t Don and Sorry Sorry! Once again, they proved themselves to be the entertainers they are. Now there is something I have to say and this is just because it irked me to no end. There is something called concert etiquette. I’m not going to say which fandom, or fandoms the girl is in since I’m not 100% sure, but not only did she make it difficult for me to see (she sat in front of me but instead of sitting on the bottom part of the chair, she sat on the top, and instead of standing on the floor, she stood on the chair, making it difficult for me to see. The venue is set up in way that allow her to not do that but whatever, that isn’t really a problem because I can deal with that.) but what really irked me was that whenever her groups came on, my brother (who is new to K-Pop and doesn’t know many songs and groups) and a couple other people would sit down. She would glare at them even though she would “sit” (her way of sitting) when groups that we all liked came on. I understand her wanting to sit when her groups aren’t on stage, but is the death glare really necessary? Really? Can’t we all respect each other’s tastes?
Sorry for ranting, just had to let it out somewhere. ANYWAY SuJu was awesome!
F(x) came on again to sing a song that I’m guessing is called “My Gangster Boy.” It was the first time I heard it but it was catchy.
SHINee appeared once again and sang Hello, Amigo and some other song.
As soon I heard the Hoot music starting to play, I began to jump in excitement, as the Soshi girls shined with their golden outfits.
http://i55.tinypic.com/2r5eo83.jpg
They then performed Oh! which was just as amazing and energetic! I even yelled the fan chant at the end! I always wanted to do that too!! I even practiced! (Pathetic right?)
http://i53.tinypic.com/ify8o0.jpg
http://i51.tinypic.com/4q25mo.jpg
Onew appeared next for his solo. He sang in Italian and my God that man can sing! His voice was so smooth, he is really talented. The performance was perfect and he nailed all the long notes. He really deserves a solo song!
Next came the dance battle which was so amazing! It started with Taemin and Eunhyuk soon joined me. Then Hyoyeon appeared and she was soon followed by Luna. The dance was awesome but the best part was when Yuri, Yoona, and Sooyoung joined them! That dance was hot! I was kinda expecting Yunho to jump in at the end but sadly that didn’t happen.
The audience was getting restless after the dance was over. TVXQ! had yet to appear so people to chant their name. It worked because next thing I know, Yunho and Changmin are wired and in the air. Everyone was flipping out and finally, they began the Mirotic/The Way U Are medley. When Mirotic started to play, the screams got even louder. They then introduced themselves and asked the audience if they wanted to her them speak French. Of course the fans demanded they do so. They then sang Before U Go and then Keep Your Head Down. Everyone was doing the hand moment.
Suju soon had the venue bouncing to BONAMANA, my new favorite SuJu song. They then did a dance which began their next song.
F(x) came on next with Danger. I think that this song was the one that received the best reaction out of all the f(x) songs. Luna was amazing!
When the word “Lucifer” appeared on the screen, I almost became deaf. So many fans were not going to have a voice for a solid week. The performance was fantastic and at one point, each one had these Wolverine type claws… for a second I was like WTF, but then they turned them on… They were green laser lights, which were pretty sick. It was the best SHINee performance hands down!
I knew what was coming next and already prepared myself for it: Gee Gee Gee! SONES went wild for this and the girls exuded this energy that is irreplaceable! It was hard to not dance along with them! I don’t even think they had to sing since everyone was singing along with them.
http://i52.tinypic.com/n62gaq.jpg
Taeng!
TVXQ! and Suju finished off the night with Rising Sun and U respectively. I think it was a great choice for TVXQ! to finish with Rising Sun not only because it is one of my favorite songs from them, but also because it just fits with the atmosphere. The entire SM family joined Yunho and Changmin at the end and Sorry Sorry started to play once more. Yunho got to show some dance moves while Chsngmin politefully refused (I couldn’t help laugh at him saying no). Some of the girls were in the back goofing around and dancing while Taeny was kinda in their own little world. Leeteuk thanked every country and kept saying “gracias” a lot. There were a lot of people from Spain.
That was Day01 and until that point, I thought it was the best concert I had been to after Lady Gaga… But little did I know that the next day would completely change my ranking completely and become #1.
110611 SMTOWN DAY 02
SONEs really stepped it up the second day! Really made Soshi feel loved. Not as many SONEs went the first day, and by the end the first show, Soshi was a bit down compared to other groups. Thankfully Day02 brought a lot more love. I saw a lot more pink hearts and pink glow sticks. It was also the night of SHINee since they received the most cheers, even beating out TVXQ!
One of the best surprises was where my seat was! It was front row and super close to the stage. I think that Day02 went much smoother than Day01 in terms of getting everyone seated and getting the show started.
During the LA cHA TA performance (which I was dancing the choreography along with f(x)), a camera from one of the Korean tv stations began to film me. (this actually happened a lot throughout the entire concert… maybe it was because I was dancing the choreography of a lot of songs..) At first it was weird but then I didn’t care and just enjoyed the concert. (I’ll be on Korean TV, not complaining here!)
http://i55.tinypic.com/111knm8.jpg
Sulli is really TALL! Pretty but wow! She’s tall!
http://i52.tinypic.com/2dlsolk.jpg
http://i55.tinypic.com/jff3ah.jpg
Krystal and Jessica are really gorgeous!
If it didn’t hit me the first day that Jessica was actually a couple feet away from me, it did that day. I can’t believe how beautiful and skinny she is!
http://i53.tinypic.com/2s7uiqc.jpg
When SHINee appeared, Minho was really close to us and we waved at him, but even though he saw us he turned away >.> (more on that later)
http://i52.tinypic.com/2wqsciq.jpg
Seohyun is even more beautiful the closer you get. She has this sort of graceful (my brother describes it as “regal”) air to her.
http://i53.tinypic.com/16j1wgn.jpg
Although I now knew when SNSD was going to appear, it didn’t help calm me in any sort of way… it made me even more anxious and restless. They are all so beautiful in person! From the hair to the sexy RDR dance, I couldn’t believe my eyes! And their legs are so skinny!
http://i54.tinypic.com/2n6b5h2.jpg
http://i56.tinypic.com/dfxe9g.jpg
Once he song was over, they took of their black jackets and lined up. They received loud cheers when they introduced themselves as a group (the audience as a whole, was a lot better than yesterdays. Before they could even begin their individual introductions, fans were screaming to get their attention. Me and my brother were part of that group, frantically waving a long with the rest. Soshi eagerly replied, waving back and making fan go crazy. Sooyoung, who wasn’t even the closest one to us, sent us a tiny wave, which made us FLIP OUT!
http://i53.tinypic.com/mhzlo0.jpg
(I spy Jeti?)
http://i52.tinypic.com/15xv9ex.jpg
FANY’S EYE SMILE!!!
The individual intros went much more smoothly this time around as Jessica went first and continued down the line. Seohyun had a French fail, which everybody laughed at but it was still cute (I loved how she looked at her unnies for help… even though they weren’t much help). I also noticed that Hyoyeon was now introduced last (unlike the first day where she was introduced second to last). Gave people a big chance to cheer for her! Tiffany was pumping her fist in approval, pleased at the reaction Hyoyeon was getting. Hyoyeon seemed just as touched as she did the first day, and seemed to hold back tears, which almost caused me to tear up.
During My Child, the girls were singing wonderfully, and like the day before, during the bridge of the song they walked around the entire stage waving at everyone. Sooyoung spotted us and waved again, smiling. Kissing You came next and this is when the girls really began interacting with everyone. From waving to sending hearts, the girls did it all. At this point I’m jumping up and down, barely containing my spazz attack. Sunny spots me and waves with her adorable smile.
http://i52.tinypic.com/2qc48cy.jpg
Sooyoung walked to our side of the stage, (she was so close!) and gaves us a big wave. She always blew us a kiss (I almost died!). She really was happy to see all the fans and seemed genuinely touched by all the love. Did I mention that she was drop dead gorgeous!
SuJu came on next and I noticed that they managed to improve their French phrases. Shindong’s “Ou le toilet” was funny.
http://i52.tinypic.com/nd6jbk.jpg
When Soshi came back with HaHaHa and Himnae, everyone in my row except for me and my brother sat down, and we were front row so it made us stand out a bit… or maybe it was me jumping up and down to Himnae. Hyoyeon was now the one closest to us and she smiled and waved!
http://i55.tinypic.com/3022dtx.jpg
What I like about these two performances is that they allowed Soshi to fully interact with the crowed. F(x) and TVXQ! lacked in those type of songs so they couldn’t really interact until the end. Some of the girls were even interacting too much. Jessica had to drag Tiffany away from the fans to make her follow the choreography again (this made me laugh so much, oh Jeti.). Tiffany came to our side this time and waved at everyone like crazy. She spotted us and waved like the others had done, and I sent her a heart. If you notice, I was seated to the extreme right side of the venue so there is a blind spot when the girls go too far to the right on stage. Tiffany was walking toward the blind spot when I sent her my heart (in both senses of the word), so I thought she didn’t see it. But just as soon as she disappeared, she appeared again, meeting my eyes and sending me a heart of her own with her heart-stopping eye smile to boot… which accomplished its goal of stopping my heart and melting me right then and there. You might think I’m an emotional fangirl, but Tiffany really touched me when she did that. To go out of her way to go back, and return my heart made me feel… I can’t even describe it. That right there would have been enough to make my night perfect. The concert had already become the best I had been to when Sooyoung sent us her first wave.
http://i55.tinypic.com/209mw5z.jpg
When Super Junior came out again, Donghae was the closet to us. I sent he a heart and he pointed at me and kept my gaze for what seemed like a while (it was probably just me though).
The Genie performance video on YouTube really doesn’t do the girls justice. They were perfectly synchronized and the fan chants were even louder than the day before! One thing that differs from Day01 is that in Day02, Tiffany said, “PARIS, PUT IT BACK ON!” instead of “DJ.” We all went wild for that! Overall, the fans were much more prominent on Day02, which made me (and the girls too probably) a lot more happy.

So I was on Cloud Soshi for the following performances. I still cheered and all but I was suffering from Soshi Fangirl Spazzing Syndrome for rest of the night. A camera began to film me do the Ring Ding Dong dance but… I didn’t even know it that well… hopefully THAT won’t appear on TV… Anyway, the only thing that stopped it was when the girls appeared again for Hoot and Oh! A lot of people were doing the Robin Hood dance and during Oh! I think the record for most simultaneous hair flips was broken. I could actually hear people do the Oh! fan chant along with me this time.

You can see a lot of Soshified hearts right in front of the girls!
When Onew came on, he gave me chills once again with his voice. I think his voice cracked during this performance and he seemed a little off at the beginning but it was still amazing never the less.

During the dance battle, all you could hear from me was “Go HYO!” or “KWON YURI!” or “YOONA, SOOYOUNG!!” I’m not kidding guys, Yuri, Yoona, and Sooyoung’s waists are no joke… I WANT!!! My spazzes returned especially during this vv

TVXQ! once again made the crowd loose it with their epic entrance! Not only did they sound just a great as yesterday, but they also incredible closer up… God was in a really good mood when he created them. I have never screamed “OPPA” louder in my life!

The end of the concert was just as amazing as last night, performance wise, but in terms of interaction it blew the other night out of the water (of course!). Now before I get into the good parts, I have to let you guys know of something left a deep impression on me (as in, if I were their fan, it would have killed my night)… maybe it’s because of where I was seated but I just can’t get over it…
I’m probably going to get A LOT of heat for this but I was disappointed with the way some SHINee members treated the fans. There, I said it! They only interacted when they had to. At least from where I was standing. Thank goodness I’m not a Shawol because the way they ignored me (and others in my section) would have broken my heart. I understand they’re tired, but SuJu and Soshi (and the other groups) were as well and they gave the best fanservice (Soshi first with Suju in very close second. Ranking differs with each person’s experience of course.) Even f(x) and TVXQ! who performed songs that didn’t really allow them to interact because of the choreography, took time at the end to do so. I’m not denying SHINee’s ability at performing, not at all since their numbers were unbelievably executed. But to ignore fans during concerts is a big no-no in my book.
http://i53.tinypic.com/x4kj1g.jpg
On brighter note, Donghae came by at the end and wave on last time, which had me melt XD! Sooyoung is amazing as she spotted us one final time to wave goodbye! (Sooyoung kept waving at us throughout the entire show. She never forgot about us, which really touched me. She remembered us, even if it was just for a bit. Definitely messing up my biased list along with Hyoyeon and Tiffany ><) Hyoyeon spotted me again and waved! She had a pink Soshified heart in her hand and she pointed at it and then at me! I then sent her a heart, which she sent back, smiling! (I probably looked like an idiot but I don’t care!) Jessica and Yoona waved at our general section. At this point I pulled out a flyer a girl gave me at the beginning of the concert, that said “thank you” in Korean. This got Victoria and Luna’s attention and they waved. I sent them a heart, which Luna eagerly returned! (She was sooo adorable!!)
http://i55.tinypic.com/2yy1te0.jpg
I see Seohyun and Amber hug behind Krystal! Does anyone else ship this?
http://i54.tinypic.com/14doosg.jpg
SOSHI JJANG!
What made this night more memorable was that while Leeteuk was talking, preparing their goodbyes, the audience interrupted him, and everyone began screaming “SARANGHAE!” It was a very touching moment, as they seemed really moved. The girls seemed to be holding back tears of gratitude. We chanted it for what felt like a long time. Then Leeteuk began thanking everyone in every language he knew (From German to Japanese). He kept saying “Gracias” which was awesome (I’m a Spanish speaker so yes I am biased!). As the groups were leaving the stage, Tiffany and Jessica thanked the SONEs for all their hard work, which really ended the night perfectly! These girls really love their fans and are not afraid to show it! They were on of the last to leave the stage all together!
And so the night ended just as fast as it began and I stayed on Cloud SoShi till… Actually I’m still on Cloud SoShi will probably continue to be for a long time! All in all, that was the best night of my life and will forever be imprinted in my thoughts.
One of the most important things I realized from this entire experience is that I am extremely lucky to be a fan of a group that is more than just talented. They are nine kind and thoughtful girls who are extremely grateful for what they have and always try hard to send just as much love as they receive back. I can now say with 100% certainty that I will forever be a SONE, and will always be proud of it! Jigeumeun So Nyuh Shi Dae <3!
