[05.08.09] trip to LA and HB

11 May 2009 - 04:19 AM

this is my first time writing a post on this website so any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated :)
sorry i don't have pictures and all that fancy stuff the only thing I brought was my phone which I tried to take pictures with but soon ran outta batteries lol

So anyways I didn't decide on coming to the Hollywood Bowl until Friday when I sorted out enough time in between all the midterms and other work. I had to pick up a train ticket last minute to get from san diego to LA and it was really a fuss getting my friends to take me to the station and all that in such short notice (since I don't have a car). Arrived at LA really late and stayed at a friend's place in USC so that was pretty good.

On Saturday we left for the HB a little late (me and 2 other friends) and ended up getting there late due to all the traffic and difficulty obtaining our tickets lol. So it's my first time at the bowl and our seat was in the middle (somewhere in the F zone). It had already begun and I looked to the stage and man it was really far away lol. I could only see the figure of the singers and I had to look mostly at the screens. but then I looked back and saw the people all the way in the very very back and lol man i wonder how it is for those people in the very back! but anyways I'm not really good at telling stories so I'll just do the best I can. Since I myself don't understand Korean (I'm somewhat of an international fan I guess) I didn't understand what the host was saying at all and when the crowd was singing along with certain songs I wouldn't know what's going on at all. And the first few hours were to be honest pretty boring (with the exception of Taeyeon and Jessica's participation in the two songs which were pretty interesting). It got really late and when the atmosphere was near it's climax I was more anxious of SNSD making their appearance. Then I could hear the host say something like blahblabhablh and i heard the words Syo Nyui Shi Dae and my friends and I were ecstatic lol after the first 3 hours of boredom finally waht I was looking for the whole time! I even stood up and all that because I was so excited. I liked the first song (Girl's Generation) I feel that the song is really catchy, but the adrenaline rush didn't really come until the Gee song. I've watched the music video countless times on youtube and all that but a million views on the computer will never beat seeing it LIVE! After so many months of watching snsd on video and all that it was really refreshing to finally see them in real life. It really felt like my whole trip was worth it that moment they started performing.

To be honest originally I didn't want to post my own experience on here. First of all, it seems kind of wierd because a lot of the people I saw at the Bowl were teenage girls and they would be screaming all over when like Shinee or SS501 made their appearance. They screamed so loud I could literally feel my ear's about to explode lol it was so intense. But I'm like a guy in college and it felt kind of awkward when I got so excited and stood up when SNSD came on stage. Lol I really couldn't hold it though it was just so unbelievable to see them live. So I guess there's nothing wrong with being a college student and liking a girl band haha. I felt that I should still share this unique experience. However there are a few things I thought could've been better. As others may have mentioned the singers' mics went kind of wierd at times and sometimes I couldn't really hear them (which kind of messed up the performance) and too bad Yoona wasn't there either which is kind of sad because the dances don't look right when there are only 8 people. Second of all their introduction was kind of sloppy and I felt like they could have said more (even though I probably won't understand most of it). Also, I've read other fan accounts about how they encountered members at the hotel and all that, which really made me regret why I didn't go there lol. After all none of my friends here have a car so it's really inconvenient to get to places but I wished I could've been at the grand hotel or something. As wierd as it sounds I really wanted to greet like Tiffany in person or something like taht it would've been totally awesome. I read about how others met them at hotels and stuff and got their sigs and all that and darn that makes me feel bad lol I didn't do much aside from watching the performance. It must've been sick to get to greet them up close and all that. I didn't take enough initiative but instead I stayed at my friends place on Sunday and didn't do much ahaha. But nonetheless this experience was memorable and I'd definitely go to the next performance they'll have. I just hope theyll have more activities or somewhat where there'll be a chance to see them up closer or something.

P.S. one of my friends back in school want a poster of yoona haha. Does anyone know the best place to get any posters? (I'd probably like to get one for myself too)

P.P.S. I talked to all my friends about this experience and they were all like wow.. I can't believe you did all that (dragging yourself all the way from SD to LA and go through all the fuss just to see like 10 minutes of performance) basically they thought I was kinda out of my mind ever since I've been watching snsd and all that hahaha but w/e I thought that the trip was well worth it so watever they say wouldn't matter
