Only got into Kpop in 2009. But as soon as I heard Girls' Generation, I fell in love. And from then on, they (well, SM) have been stealing my money x__x.
It's true that music leaps across language barriers. Influenced by Kpop I decided to check out Kdrama and eventually decided to study up on Korean. I too under a common misconception thought Chinese in some ways are similar to Korean, apparently it is not according to this study guide. I can't deny my knowledge of Chinese has helped me with majority of the pronounciations though. I'm not much of a linguist so my Korean vocabulary is kind of iffy right now.
