I met the love of my life.
The bias I will forever cherish in my heart spoke to yours truly. And I’m still reeling from the shock.
After the awe inspiring concert that was SM Town NYC, I woke up this morning with next to no voice and a 9:30 class to attend. After getting back to my dorm, I debated back and forth, back and forth whether or not I should write a letter to Seohyun. I only had the possibility of meeting Seohyun to cling to, and I didn’t want to look stupid if I did give it to her and if she did read it. IF IF IF. That was the word of my morning. Everything hinged upon something else ><
30 minutes before I left, I poured my heart onto a 1 page word document and printed it. Had to be the most ghetto fan letter Seohyun has ever recieved. No envelope (was afraid she wouldn’t open it), it was just a sheet of paper, printed out, not even handwritten because I had no stationary and loose leaf would have been even MORE ghetto. =.=
I folded it into thirds and tucked it into my SNSD Goobne planner so that it wouldn’t wrinkle in my bag.
The next 2 hours were spent waiting in line for the Soshified fanmeet, nervously awaiting a text or call from my friend that would let me know if I could meet Seohyun or not. 2 hours in I got the call and immediately picked up. All I heard was “I got you in” and I was dashing out of line, towards who knows.
Details withheld here because they aren’t that important, but I ended up in the MTV Times Square studio, staring at SNSD in all their beauty. It was really a surreal experience. I was dreaming, that was the only explanation I could think of. Even seeing them in real life, I felt like a TV screen was set up between me and them. They looked so perfect, not a single thing lost in translation when it comes to still shots of them. What is lost in translation is how their presence demands attention. I could not fixate my eyes or mind on anything else but them. When you watch them on whatever, the cameras are always trained on them, but even when on set, with the hustle and bustle of Times Square going on outside the window, it’s impossible to even think about diverting attention away from them.
Anyway, as I was standing off to the side for the interview, I stared at Seohyun and could not wipe the grin off my face. I was trembling from head to toe. Like, uncontrollable shivers. At one point, she looked at me and I hid behind a friend in embarrassment. I think she smiled afterwards, can’t be sure.
She looked amazing. I’m sure you all will see in the pictures and fancams, but she had the straight hair, slightly brown. It looked silk smooth and I died at how beautiful she was. It was just surreal how everything was lining up.
The interview was amazing, I’m sure the great people over at MTVK will have it up very soon! I won’t go into detail because it’ll be up anyway and I don’t want to give many spoilers! After the interview finished, my friend encouraged me to go up and ask for a picture, but I was WAY too nervous for anything like that. She literally had to push me onto the stage up to her. Moment of truth!!!
I was SO SHY… I asked (in Korean) “Seohyun shi…” and she turned around and looked at me! I then said, “Oh, I’m a really big fan of yours…” and she said, “Ah, thank you!” (All in Korean) and gave me a small bow!!!! Her voice is the most angelic thing… soft and sweet, yet there’s intention behind her words. All my sentences were trailing off, but I could feel that she meant the words she was saying.

I realized a few days after that Taeyeon had been sitting right to my right, and Yoona was behind me a little bit. I think I saw Sunny looking at me out of the corner of my eye, but it's so mindblowing to think I could stand within a foot of all the members of SNSD but have my attention so focused on Seohyun that they basically did not exist to me at that moment in time.

It was a bad time to go up though because they needed to take pictures of SNSD, so I got off the stage awkwardly and they took the pictures. Afterwards they wanted the girls to interact with the crowd outside, so they went to the window and waved drawing lots of screams. A guy had a huge drawing of Seohyun and she pointed it out and said, “Oh! They drew me!” It was adorable!
After that they went off to the dressing rooms, and while they were leaving, my amazing friend pushed me once again to her. I had the letter in my hand and as she passed by I said, “Oh, Seohyun-shi, I wrote this small letter for you. Please read it if you have the chance.” And she said, “Oh, thank you! I will!” Once again, in that sweet sweet voice of hers. I seriously think that I will dream of her voice. I think her voice is what took me most by surprise in how perfect it was. She took the letter and held onto it! I was expecting her to tuck it away somewhere, but she held it in her hand all the way into the dressing room.
From here the fan account goes into only what I’ve heard from my friend. I didn’t personally witness any of this ><
Apparently, the girls started eating. There was pizza ordered and everyone went and got food… except for Seohyun.
She sat down on a couch… and started reading my letter.
I can’t even describe how I feel about this. She was reading each line carefully and spent a good 20 minutes just reading it! According to someone else in the room, at the end of it she said, “Awww” and at that point the other girls started asking her what it was. *Dead*
I’m told she didn’t even get to eat because she was reading my letter!
My friend went up to her afterwards and asked if she understood the letter and she said, “Oh! Yes!” And so my friend explained to her that I was a friend of her’s that wrote the letter and that I was a huge fan of Seohyun and she replied, “Oh! Thank you!”
Forever dead.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture with her but it’s a bittersweet regret. I would never have been able to change my profile picture for the rest of my life. I’m SO SO grateful to said friend who gave me this AMAZING opportunity. I hope to be able to make more memories like this but I understand that this may be a once in a lifetime thing. Thanks so much for reading guys! I will forever cherish this memory and hope that all of you guys get to have similar opportunities and memories!

And here is the letter I wrote to Seohyun!
Dear Seohyun,
I’m writing this letter in English because I didn’t feel that I could express myself clearly enough in Korean. Although I am Korean, I was born and raised in America. I can’t lie and say that I’m your number 1 fan in the world. I’m sure that there are others like me that have been charmed by your personality and are even more devoted than I am to you. What I can say is that my appreciation of you and everything that you do is completely genuine and that I am a complete and utter fan of yours. From the first Into the New World performance I watched all the way to SM Town New York you have been my bias (what we call favorite members in the States).
And you being my favorite member isn’t even as far as it goes. You have had such an impact on my life farther than my musical preference. To this day, I can’t decide whether it’s that you embody all of the qualities I like in a girl, or whether you set those qualities. The line is blurry and I don’t know whether I’ll ever be able to draw that distinction. I wish there was a better word to use than perfect, but I can’t think of one. Maybe ideal would fit better. You are the cream of the crop, what others should aim to be.
You also are a role model for me. Your pursuit of education and good study habits is encouraging and I find that it helps me when I am tired of studying and work. Your pursuit of a healthy lifestyle is also something that stays on my mind whenever I go out to eat or sit at my desk wondering if I should go exercise or not. Even at SM Town, I was so encouraged to see you taking the time to wave at all the fans and be so energetic. It made me wonder how anyone could ever not be hopelessly in love with you. There is just so much to you that needs to be appreciated. People say that celebrities that don’t appreciate their fans don’t deserve to be celebrities. You deserve to be a celebrity 100 times over in that respect.
I really hope that you never get discouraged or have doubts about what you are doing or have done. You give joy to countless fans and your smile may just be what keeps some of us sane at the end of a long day. I know it must not be the easiest lifestyle for you either. Through the hectic schedules and never ending events, I hope that you can be encouraged by fans that will love and support you until the end. You should have self confidence in not only your looks, but how your presence in concerts and TV shows and everything else about you that the public sees affects so many people positively. I know you have definitely been a HUGE positive influence on my life, and I’m sure there are countless others like me. If ever there is a time where you are feeling down please think of us, the endless Seororo’s, Seobaby’s, and Seomates that will continue loving you until the very end.
