Taiwan Fan Account: The incoherent ramblings of a starstruk SONE ft. Airport Madness
Just my opinion, thoughts, whatever. A bit and taste of what it was like to be at Taiwan during the ITNW concert. This is going to be quite long. If you’re going to skip anything.. skip the Merch and Concert sections (cos I’m sure other people have reported better) and go straight to the SEEING THEM OFF!!! (!!!!!!!) section as that was simply the most epic experience ever that nobody else in Taiwan could’ve had. The Seeing Them Off section is definitely worth a read.
Waiting for Merch
- Starts in Taiwan - We woke up at 6:30 am. SIX THIRTY to camp at the concert hall. We were damn lucky to be in a hotel that was literally just about 200 meters away from the concert hall, we could just walk there. We got there at just a bit over 7 am… AND DAMN.
Hundreds of people, wrapped around the concert hall all lining up.. just for MERCH, hours before the required time. There was extremely limited merch like the Blanket is only 300 stock!! We stood in line for sooo many hooours before we finally got there. Me and my friend, No. 320 and 321, I think we were good.. Got back there at the assigned time.. like after just about two thirds of the people in front of us had already gotten their stuff… the cup was already sold out. So nervous already just at the front of the line. Not sure if we could get the blankets at least. And unbelievable. Even though my friend went in front of me, there are 6 counters and he didn’t get a blanket. And I got the last one. There was so much merch. Towels, Blanket, T-shirts, Key-chains, Light sticks.. We got like nearly all of it. Pretty Impressive, but we are just getting started.
The Concert
Alright this is it. The concert. It is nearly time. We were in standing Area A. That means the top left standing square. We were riiiight at the front against the railing toward the middle of our area. Now I’m not going to lie, before the concert had started, we were tired and dead from waiting hours in line for merch and other things. But as soon as the video kicked in, we cheered as if all HELL BROKE LOOSE. Every time a girl appeared in the video, copious amounts of cheering would accompany it. It was INSANE. When finally in the video they descended down into the floor, and out of the ground, came THE REAL 9 SNSD MEMBERS OMG!!!! My heart was pounding so fast at this moment. OH S*** OH S*** F*** F**** OMG. SNSD! THEY’RE HERE!.
Dun, dun, dun dun, dun..“Sowonuelmalhaebwa” MALLHAEBWAAA!!!!!
The loudest ass cheers you could’ve ever heard in your life.
And well that was that, what else do you expect. It’s SNSD. We cheered like crazy for the whole concert. Even during the videos, when others wouldn’t really be cheering cos SNSD isn’t actually on the stage, we’d scream for the girls anyway causing looks from other fans
.Plenty of notable moments, Jessica ripping out Totoro’s eye (maybe tag?) right in front of Tiffany OMG!! That happened right in front of me literally.
I distinctly remembered Yuri patting Hyoyeon’s butt at least once
.When they were singing complete and the white confetti came out.. oh my gosh that was seriously the most BEAUTIFUL thing I had ever seen in my LIFE.
And of course the OH performance was unbelievable. By the end, the epic fanchant and everyone threw the pink ribbons. My gosh standing from the very bottom in the standing Area A.. What a sight to behold. Videos do not do it justice at all.
That was one hell of a concert. And I thought it was the best day of my life.. until the next day when we saw them off….
SEEING THEM OFF!!! (!!!!!!!)
Oh My Gosh. Here it is. The real f***ing deal. We went at about 11 am to camp outside The Sherwood, the hotel the girls were staying at. There was already quite a lot of fans waiting outside. After over an hour of waiting, a champagne gold, and a deep dark blue van drove into the pavement, and the fans went into overdrive. We were part of the crowd, and we saw them come out. Jessica, Sooyoung, Yoona,, Seohyun, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Tiffany, Yuri, Sunny. They were all there.
Not bad eh, but it doesn’t stop there. We hopped in a cab, and told the driver, to get us to the airport ASAP. Now here’s where our story might differ from any other typical SONE. Everyone else would get off to the airport and go around Soshi and see them off till they checked in. But we weren’t having any of that. We were gambling all or nothing. We were also leaving on the same day, but our flight wasn’t till 6:30pm, while SNSD’s was at 2:30pm to Tokyo. But we decided we were going to check in a couple hours early, run straight to SNSD’s boarding gate and wait for them there!
When we arrived at the airport, we hit a snag. It was too early, so the electronic checking in system wasn’t working. But luckily a really nice lady employee helped us manually sign us in. We had to hand carry out luggage in order to be allowed through but it was worth it. We had a slight scare but we weren’t done yet.
Flight JL806, Terminal 2, Boarding Gate D7. 2:30pm to Tokyo. That was SNSD’s exact flight and that’s where they would have to go. This was about 1:59 pm or so by now, and we were veerryy nervous. After all the customs and luggage checking etc., we ran all the way to Terminal 2 (even though our flight later on would be in Terminal 1). Boarding gate D1 was the closest and between each boarding gate was quite long, but we ran all the way to D7 anyway. We finally got there. There were still people around, obviously, since it didn’t fly till 2:30. But we were scared SNSD had already boarded!
At 2:10pm, all the regular passengers could already board and when they left, we (as in me, and 2 other SONES) were the only 3 non-staff left in the boarding room. Completely isolated. The only 3 people in the room.Time slowly ticked away and we were sooo nervous. We could see the plane outside the window, and just hoped that SNSD had not yet boarded the plane.
Suddenly we saw 2 guards run up the stairs outside to the main hallway. I followed them up, saw a crowd of bodyguards and security standing outside. I walked up to them, and said the stupidest thing ever. I just said “So Nyuh Shi Dae”. And just from those FOUR words, they all turned and looked at me, and one of them grabbed my arm and tried to push me away immediately (!!!!). I moved away from him and quickly ran back down the hallway, and down the stairs into the boarding room.
We, us 3, were the ONLY people in the boarding room now. And all of a sudden, 9 BEAUTIFUL ANGELS. The MOST BEAUTIFUL 9 GODDESES I HAD EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE descended down those stairs. Those stairs which I swear must’ve been connected to heaven just now. Now this is the good part! We were the only 3 SONES in the whole of Taiwan, THE WORLD that was in that room with SNSD together (other than security and staff ofc..) BUT DAMN. They walked by and it was amaaazinng, with Yuri leading the pack. She seriously looks as if she could’ve just walked out of the Cabi CF OMFGG. Unbelievable! Taeyeon waved at us! Hyoyeon, Seohyun, Yoona Sooyoung, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany. They were all sooo close to us. Like a meter away, less even. Literally A METER AWAY! FROM SNSD!
Our minds were blank, we called out their names as they walked by. But one thing we did manage to do is, we shouted “HAVE A SAFE FLIGHT” together in unison. And Jessica, replied to us ‘Thank You’. AAHHH. Freaking unbelievable. Simply Amazing. They finally reached the end of the boarding room/gate where they check the tickets. Tiffany who was rounding off the pack then thanked all of the staff and security. Seriously she is such a sweet heart. All of them are unbelievably beautiful in real life. And after that, they were gone, walked off into the plane. One of the guards shot my friend a smirk, as if saying, “you guys ****ing did it”. Cos we did do it. We did it. We saw them off, by outcrazying all the other sones and literally seeing them off to the very end, through the boarding gate. It was just US and SNSD in that room, and we were damn close, seriously 1 m or less. We stayed until we saw SNSD’s plane to Tokyo leave our sight…
And that my friends and fellow SONES is the story of how 3 crazy Hong Kong SONES flew to Taiwan and had the time of their lives. 18/10/2010.

Friend managed to snap just 3-4 photos before a guard smacked his camera as they came down. One is a beautiful shot of Yuri as she came down the stairs, and another is of Taeyeon waving at the camera. Will update post later.
