Go with what you think is right! Also it really helps just to write it out, and let yourself fill in the loose ends!

But the direction I truly want to take it in might seem a bit too depressing and tragic for the readers(?). When the chapters start to play out later on, I mean. Ahhhh T_T Thank you, I'll take your advice and just write out a few chapters and see how it goes.

I think you should tell the story you want to tell and ignore the readers. This is your story, write it how you want!
