Ahh, movies. I wonder if the inspirations for those characters come from actual ppl like him. An old man living without troubles, children all grown up and all adoring him. I wish I could be like him when I get old.

His demeanor made me finch and my kiddie sixth sense told me something was wrong. When I looked up, he told me "You aren't replaceable. The ball is. You can always buy another ball. Always. But you can never buy another you. Never."

I, being the listless kid I was, ran out to retrieve it. The old man saw me going for my ball and he sped down to stop me. I barely got out the gate when he stopped me and held me firmly. After waiting for a while for the cars to stop and the lights to turn green, he cautiously got my ball back. He looked angry.

Life Lesson:
I was young and brash. As a kid playing on my little pathetic lawn (this is when I lived in Brooklyn for a while) I was fascinated with my ball. It was very bouncy; it bounced on GRASSS!! While I played soccer alone, the old man came out on the porch and watched me play a bit. Then the ball, due to its unpredictable bounciness, went into the middle of the street.
