Points Based System is used by many countries for the immigration process. A person who is trying to immigrate to a foreign country needs to get points beyond a certain mark or threshold that will prove his worth of immigrating to that country. Every country has its own points system and the level of points. In the UK recently the point based system has changed. Now every foreign citizen wishing to immigrate to the UK will need to give the tests and score points accordingly. There few exempted countries though.
