haha! i expected it to be something similar to this :)
it's such a great song (to me at least). I usually don't like the typical catchy pop/party songs, but this really REALLY fits the genre well.
The genre of dance/pop/party/club song. I believe this was what they were aiming for in this song. The beat and rhythm really fits dancing in a club well.
I wonder if clubs will play this as a party song... i mean, just like how in America they use songs in clubs.
Lyrics fit just nice with the genre too, don't you agree?

Thanks for the translation... dance songs lyrics will not always make exact sense in all parts but I get the gist of it.. the chorus is cool though .. spiders and butterflies .

So that's the meaning of the song? Wow, nosebleed~~
I just don't understand the lyrics "spider pretending to be a butterfly", but nevertheless, It's a very good song with a good meaning :)

A friend of mine found the lyrics very intersting and he told me the chorus says a great truth, he´s not a k-pop/ j-pop fan at all, but he liked these lyrics. Thank you so much for the lyrics, soshified

"I was so shocked by Taeyeon's singing ability. It's a mature song so I was worried, but she made tears fall down my face. Barely an hour into production had passed, and I remember clapping my hands." - Composer Ahn Young Min, producer of 'Athena OST' (*******, 13th December 2010)

YAAAYY!! I've been waiting for this :D
Thanks Soshisubbers ^___^
Now waiting for the video lol; I want to show it to a friend :P I send her SNSD's MVs with SoShisubs and tell her to look at the lyrics but all she does is say how pretty their clothes are -_- This has happened with The Boys and Paparazzi already XD

hehe There's like two positions regarding the meaning of the lyrics: some people just don't find them special and some others (like me) think there's something interesting in them :) I was waiting for SoShisubs because the videos I found on YouTube... I just couldn't believe everything they had as lyrics XD (It still happens to me with this version, though. But less than with the others ^^). Now that I have these lyrics, I can really appreciate how meaningful they are :) [more than before XD] It's actually something that depends on each person, reading into things :P I found this interpretation really interesting:

Even without translations, it wasn't too hard to tell that this song has some pretty interesting lyrics. Even with the translations, I'm not going to pretend I'm smart enough to understand them, but the symbolism and wordplay definitely makes them worth reading through a few times. For example, it seems strange to me to put on a mask to be your true self, but perhaps you'll only dance like you really would if no one knew it was you. Or if the butterfly refers to life outside the club, maybe it's putting on the mask to erase the butterfly that everyone is pretending to be to let you once again be the spider. In a sense, putting on one mask takes off another. The use of 'adabana' is also very cool, sort of serving as a word that represents the song. Flowers only bloom for a little while, the club scene only lasts as long as the music's on, the mask is temporary... love made in that setting would be fake then. ... A probably incorrect interpretation, since, like everything else symbolic, this goes way over my head haha.

Thank you for the translation.

I would say that "butterfly butta spider" is to do with the fact that the people in the club, being sung about, flash their colours as though they're beautiful, alluring butterflies, but inside they're really just like spiders, using a trick or image to snare what they want. I think it's genius where they say that 'looking like you're caught in a trap is a sort of trap too', as it's a very clever way to lure in 'prey', by playing the vulnerable female.

Also... I'm pretty darn certain that at one point Sunny sings "I don't follow" instead of the "adabana" that she sings every other time. It sounds different, and as far as I can see on performance, looks different too.

Thank you so much for the translation. Like what most people had said, the lyrics does not makes sense but it is a very catchy song. I feel that their outfits don't really match the music. They were dressed similarly to air stewardess. Well, I hope someone could enlighten me on this

When I first heard the words 'Flower Power', I expected the song to be about love and peace. Even when I heard the preview, I simply thought the song would be catchy and also a bit about butterflies being attracted to flowers because of the 'butterfly' part. Finally, the full song came out and I was confused over the 'human nature' and 'do you wanna be my lover?' lines. Well, now I understand!

Originally, when I read these lyrics, I thought a bunch of poetic drunk women had gathered together to write a song about guys hitting on them. But yes, it really does seem like a club atmosphere, with drunken spiders pretending to be butterflies to lure men etc. Seeing as 'adabana' means fake love, it was used really well too! Kudos to the lyrics writers, and thanks for translating! Hope to see these subtitles on YouTube soon. (:

It took me a while to understand the context of the song since the translation of lyrics is deep, and I finally know now about ADABANA. I still find the song cool.

Thank you for translating the lyrics of Flower Power!
