in japan we use honorific suffixes to address someone to give respect.
Chan - is used for babies, young children, and teenage girls. It may also be used towards cute animals, lovers, close friends, or any young woman. It's almost the female version of kun.

oppa I read a lot of Japanese anime n I always wonder why you Jpanese add " chan" after a name ?
for what? n in korean too, they add 'shi' or something like that after personal names.
Can I have a japanese name oppa ? My name Yaya is a Chinese one ^^
Is there any none can be used for both boys n girls ?

I'm jealous of you japanese a lot because SNSD will debut in Japan...I understand why they choose Japan but i hope them to go to Vietnam once more time.
As they got to Vietnam last year , I knew nothing about K-pop and they performed only at our capital city , not mine. What a great pity !
