On August 6th, S.M. Entertainment announced that Jessica has left the entertainment label. S.M. Entertainment stated, “After discussions with Jessica, who has been an artist under SM Entertainment, we’ve decided to go our separate ways so both sides can continue to develop. We hope people will support Jessica, who will be having a fresh start.”
Jessica released her own statement, saying, “Hello, this is Jessica. After discussions with SM Entertainment, I’m letting you know that we’ve decided to end our contract and officially go our separate ways. I consider the time I spent with SM Entertainment valuable, and I hope for good luck in SM Entertainment’s future.
Also, to my precious fans, I’m always grateful for your unchanging support and love. I’m going to do my best to show you all what you’re anticipating, so I’d be thankful if you watched over my new start.”

There goes my 2nd season of JeKry :'(
Its not a surprise yet still saddening.
We all know for sure that soon or later this will happen.
What makes me sad the most is the fact that jessica and the others is really in a bad term which makes them cant work in the same agency.
I will always support Jessica & GG! Good luck all!
It’s not necessarily anything having to do with “bad terms” — just a matter of the changes which take place when a performer leaves an otherwise-intact group. Unless they have prepared ahead of time, the promoter usually finds it difficult to provide adequate management to both the group and to the solo artist, and the group takes precedence.
When you realize that the amount of work (and expense) to support a single performer is not much less that for a group, it puts things into perspective. SM has a responsibility to every performer under contract, and if they can’t live up to that, it’s time for the artist to find someone who can, and personal issues don’t usually enter into it.
Hope this makes you feel a little better about it.
ABOUT DAMN TIME!
It was obvious that SM didn’t have a clue how to promote Sica outside of SNSD — no surprise there, when an artist and group separate, it’s like a divorce, and the producers who have been working with the group are not going to be effective for two separate entities . . .as we’ve seen since October 2014. It’s not a matter of placing blame, it’s just that SM is the wrong tool for the job of managing a former group member under their label who is now a solo artist. I’ve been expecting her to invoke the non-performance clause in her SM contract before this.
Now Jessica can sign with a label which will promote her without having a conflicted background to deal with.
I hope she gets with a producer who gets her on American stages, and soon! The window of opportunity won’t stay open forever. Jessica is not my bias — I haven’t GOT a bias — but she is as important to me as any of the ladies are (which is a LOT). I want to see her succeed, and I want to see her PERFORMING.
NO MATTER WHAT!!!
We’ll support you all the way Sica. I’ve long supported you since.
We believe in you!
Always remember that! :)
that is good for both side, freedom to jessica.
i will wait for jessica in the future, give your best shot and i will continue to support you.
lol, bye
The Title here makes it sound like Jessica is to blame. How did such a horribly titled article get put on Soshified?
Somebody with some power take it down or at least re-title it !
I’m not sure why you think “Jessica Leaves S.M. Entertainment” makes it sound like it is her fault and I don’t understand why anyone would think that? It is quite a stretch. Would you prefer it was “SM Entertainment terminates Jessica’s contract” to make it sound more like it was SM’s fault and not to mention a completely false accusation? I don’t think it is possible get away from the simple fact that it was Jessica’s decision to leave SM Entertainment so she can get control of her own future and I don’t see this as being a negative in any way. It’s disappointing that she will now no longer be able to rejoin GG but that is a separate issue. “Jessica Leaves S.M. Entertainment” is a pretty straightforward and accurate description of what happened.
Well, this confirms that there wont be a SNSD reunion.
Well, who knows… Maybe not this soon, but maybe years, many years from know that can still be happened. Why not? G.O.D can still have it. The most important thing to make that happens is that they must make peace among themself first.
I’m Surprise they didn’t do it eariler … There was no way ( At least right now ) that there was gonna a SNSD reunion or what not … Jessica and SM didn’t really work together in almost a year … it best for both sides
Now that said and with this new found freedom i wanna here a English solo album from Jessica i think she has enought talent to be on the same level as a kelly clarkson or ke$ha ( the only one she can’t really compete with is Taylor Swift ) … The world of American pop music is hers for the talking if she really wants it
Should be an interesting rest of 2015/2016 for jessica now … I’m expecting big things ( or maybe i’m getting my hopes up a little to much but oh well lol )
While I’d totally support her releasing an English album, a big difference between Kelly Clarkson/Kesha’s careers and her’s is that they write their own songs regularly. I’m not saying that Jessica can’t do that, but it’s kind of characteristic of the Kpop industry compared to the U.S. industry as well. How often do you hear of members of idol groups composing/writing entire albums, if even parts of albums? I’m not saying american artists don’t buy other people’s songs either.
However, the Kpop industry is more like a business with the way its handled, which is why american reporters call Kpop artists an export. In the U.S. its more like individual or small group song writers and composers. We don’t have weekly performance “competition” shows, we have interviews and award ceremonies (like MAMA). Artists go on tour to promote albums, not just to go on tour like every 1-1.5 years like SMTown where a lot of the songs (the favorites I suppose) are repeated.
In the end do I support a solo Sica album? Absolutely. However, it’d be quite interesting to see her ability as a songwriter since she hasn’t written anything before and I don’t think she’s had any musical training in that regard.
Cheers!
@yeest540
We Don’t know if she can write songs or not …. maybe she does and they were not good enough/the right type of song to be a SNSD song
And Kelly Clarkson i know for sure her first few albums where co-writen by someone else mostly … she had to learn to be a song writer ( ke$hia not so sure about ) .. so i’m sure Jessica can learn to be a good if not great songwriter
It does make sense for her to go it alone. She was in the recording studio earlier this year, so hopefully now this is will free her up to releasing music as a solo artist.
Also in my heart of heart I would love her to make a final appearance on stage at K-con in NY to say goodbye. I heard that she is currently in NY and the other members are on there way there now. Fingers Crossed, Please! Please! Please! It would bring the house down!
Well, not surpised that this happened though. When last year they announced that Sica would still under SM, I just doubted it would work. I mean, no matter what, it must be hard for both Jessica and the other parties to still under the same roof considering what happened.
Well, I still wish Sica best luck for all her upcoming projects in the future. And I will always support you, Sica.
Totally see this coming, though not this fast. Now, it’s totally a clean slate for Sica.
I hope Soshified and SONE will continue to support everyone.
