On February 18th, Taeyeon and SHINee’s Jonghyun appeared on Mnet’s “the Music” for an interview, during which the subject of Taeyeon’s 2010 musical, “Midnight Sun”, was discussed.
Taeyeon said quite frankly, “Musicals were very different from what I’d imagined. It was much more difficult for me.” She continued, “I had to act while singing and do three or four things at once, and it required concentration all the time.”
“Every performance had to look like the first performance. And it was difficult for me to do that as someone with weak focus. So I struggled a lot by myself. That’s something I still have to overcome.”
When the MC asked if she wanted to try it again but better, she replied, “If there is a good opportunity, then…” before trailing off. But then she confessed, “I honestly don’t want to. I don’t think musicals are for me,” to the laughter of the MCs.

I think what Tae was really meaning is that she wants to concentrate on singing and to be really good at that. Because she is a perfectionist, she does not want that other things disturb her while she is making a flawless performance.

I have to say Taeng’s been really open and giving straight answers in last view interviews… that’s great… the girls are really getting more and more mature, and relax..
Taeyeon doesn’t, and shouldn’t, have do anything she doesn’t want to. She is the Taengoddess after all.
Taetae is opening up more and more. happy to see how she letting peeps in little by little. she’s come a long way from her “introvert” self. oh Taetae i think you’ll know the perfect opportunity for another musical when it arrives at your doorstep and you won’t turn it down. lawd i hope she continues to get more and more opportunity to experience all types of music and build her confidence while doing so. hwaiTaeng!

Even though she was nominated for an award for her musical role, she is not interested in doing it again.
I’m sure she will do just wonderfully in any future musicals she WANTS to do. She is smart being honest about being human and having difficulties with some things. Good people appreciate that and being open will help her with focus in future.
It’s hard to believe that our lovely sweet & powerful voice kid leader is weak in concentration. Every time on stage she always give her best. Never know that she’s struggling. First time hearing her thoughts in her musical.
