On November 30th, Girls’ Generation revealed the OST for “Blade & Soul” at a release party held in Shanghai. Girls’ Generation performed the Mandarin song live at the event and also sat down for an interview, during which they explained that they hope to have more activities in China in the future and that “Blade & Soul” is a popular game in Korea. A lottery event was also held, where Girls’ Generation chose five numbers, and those holding the numbers received prizes.

wow they look REALLY tired in that live performance, not many smiles, not moving energetically at all, and the lip synching didn’t look good either. That being said the song is fairly catchy

There seems to be confusion about the name of the song. On the screen behind them at the release, it was just “Soul” is huge letters.

I know something else that is very addicting and cost a lot of time and (potentially) money, Girls’ Generation.
The other thinks you mentioned sound a bit like anti-gaming propaganda and I don’t understand why you would just point the finger at online gaming and think single player gaming is okay. I would have thought many of these issues would be reverent to both types of games. At lease with online gaming you can play with other players and there can even be a social aspect to the gaming, you are not just sitting at home on your own.
Anyway you seem to have an issue that seems a little unrelated to Girls’ Generation, even if they are releasing a song to promote a video game.
The dance looked like they really didn’t have enough time to practice it. For Hyoyeon’s dance solo, it seemed like there was an awkward pause when she looked back unsure of what to do next. It is good they gave her that, and the little rap after Tiffany’s. I noticed not many people are commenting on this and I’m surprised I even am. It is a cool sounding song. I’ll wait for the studio version before I really judge it. I have been wondering lately, tho, why they haven’t tried more with the Chinese industry or market, whatever you wanna call it. Besides with tour concerts held there.

@kevinwang129 i wonder if you notice that the gaming world is still booming after so many years of it’s existence. gaming world is like neck to neck or pass the movie industry and possibly music industry. so SM grabbing this opportunity to have their girls endorse video games is all about business for them. just be glad that companies are still seeking out SNSD to be their #1 choice to endorse for them. not many groups out there get this kind of opportunity after being out for so long.
i’m so thankful for these girls still getting top gigs and hope they continue to get more every year as they continue as a group or individual.
Hey, your opinion is reasonable, but also check out my new comment (at the far bottom) for an alternative perspective. In fact, I am only against (massively multiplayer) *online* video games, which I believe do more harm than good, and which are actually killing traditional single-player games that require a lot more effort on the designers and developers.
hope this song will be available on iTunes US because it’s our 9 angels singing and i pretty much support whatever they’re involve in especially where music is concern. so yeah i hope SM and this game company let this OST be available for purchase on iTunes around the world. LET’S GO!

I read that it was called Sword of Spirit/Hope, but I might be wrong. Some say it’s “Soul” but I’m not sure about that either.

Their voice is so sweet and not very weird as SJ-M (Elfs dont scold me pls) but still not really native coz as a Chinese speaker myself,I can’t really catch their words >< BUT, it's great!!! Hey, don’t be hypercritical! I’m also a native speaker, and I think you can’t catch up with the lyrics only because the song is fast paced and the background is noisy. If you watch another video with captions, you’ll find out their pronunciations are correct most of the time.

Although not impressed by the concept (still promoting for online video games in their seventh year, seriously… could you be a little picky about commercials, SM?), I have to say I’m impressed by the song itself! Only listening to the vocal I would mistake them for native Chinese singers—their pronunciations are awesome.
Btw, the BGM in the interview video is so loud that I can hardly hear a word -_-||
What is wrong with promoting for video games? There is a huge potential audience that plays video games and a lot of money in the video game industry. This is cool song and a great promotion opportunity for them in China. If they did a English theme song for a video game in America it would be equally great promotion for them.
I am not saying promoting for video games is bad for the girls. My point is *online* video games themselves should be depreciated, as they are one of the most important triggers for juvenile delinquency, at least in Asia. Two reasons: first, some video games are violent in nature; second, *online* video games are addicting and cost a lot of time and (potentially) money, which lead to truants, theft, robbery, etc. Considering these, promoting for online video games also harms the girls’ image in a subtle way. Anyway, this topic is too heavy for SSF.
