TIME, a major American news magazine, recently highlighted Girls’ Generation as a potential contender to supplant PSY and his popular single, “Gangnam Style”, in the United States. Citing the music video for Girls’ Generation’s new hit title track, “I Got A Boy”, writer Lily Rothman took notice of the over 25 million views that it has amassed since its January 1st debut. “I Got A Boy” currently holds the number two spot behind “Gangnam Style” on YouTube’s music charts. SM Entertainment USA marketing representative Jane Choi talked to TIME on Girls’ Generation’s behalf, stating that the American division of the Korean entertainment label believes that “the U.S. market has been wanting the Girls”. Choi later added that PSY’s success has hyped interest for K-Pop around the world, which in turn has been beneficial for Girls’ Generation’s plans in the United States.
TIME reports that Girls’ Generation’s first full-length American album will be released through their American record label, Interscope Records, later this year. A version of “I Got A Boy” will be included in the upcoming album. Specific details such as its release date and title are not known at this time. American fans were first treated to a fresh new Girls’ Generation release early last year with an English version of “The Boys” and a number of various remixes on a digital maxi-single.

ooh.. so there’ll be a full-length english album this year. awesome. they just made them even much busier. phew.. guess it has to be done while the psy viral is still circulating in the US. can’t wait.
I really need this! English is not my native language, but is the one that i can understand better than korean and is really awesome to listen SNSD in english.

However, if they change the lyrics to IGAB for the English version (which I’m sure they will) I really really REALLY! SERIOUSLY! Hope that whoever writes the lyrics doesn’t make it too American like… and actually give the song a meaning. unlike The Boy’s English version…cause truthfully I didn’t really like it because of the lyrics (and for that I blame Teddy Riley lmao) The Korean version was better in my opinion :p. so yea just hope interscope doesn’t Americanize them too much .-.

I am absolutely excited about Girls’ Generation’s official American debut later this year because just like all of the SONEs across the United States, I am very glad that I will be able to see the girls on television through morning news shows, talk shows, commercials and PSAs. And not to forget their music videos on TV. And I also will be able to finally hear the girls’ songs on the radio and also hear their voices through interviews. Plus, i’m sure that everyone will like seeing the girls in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Seventeen and Popstar!. So, everyone needs to know that I just cannot contain my excitement about Girls’ Generation’s US debut later this year because I know that as always, the girls will silence the haters once and for all and top the charts once again just like they did this week with “I Got A Boy”. Now that Psy has opened up the doors for all of the K-Pop acts to debut in the United States, in which one of them is of course Girls’ Generation, the girls are now set to take America by storm and leave an amazing first impression on people across the United States. GG’s gonna paint the United States pink and no one and nothing will ever stop these girls from making their mark on US soil.

I’m awfully excited for the English version, our girls have truly come so far. With each album, with each song, we witness the maturing, growing and exploring new concepts. Furthermore, their English speaking skills, continue to improve. I can’t even express my excitement for this.

We as international SONES can help the girls too…. Play their songs on our phones loudly when we are taking public transport or walking on the street. The more people exposed to their song, the easier for the girls to break into other country’s music scene.

Woohoo! I was just at a bowling place tonight and heard Gangnam Style on the intercom stereo and started thinking it’s sad that all these people don’t know Girls’ Generation, or even what Gangnam is, etc. I’m glad to know it is making an impact and that an America debut, outside of The Boys, is going to happen this year! So exciting! I may not be crazy about Psy, and get tired of my dad making bad comments about him and his “anti-america” stuff, but I do know how much he has helped get America ready for our girls. I’m so ready for this!!! :D TIME article…wow, I’m amazed that the girls have gotten so much American press and all of it is positive. They just have to make it here!!! I would like them to have a top 20 hit single (with the right marketing/promotion and radio play) anything is possible! :) I can’t wait to see what the English album is going to sound like! :) The world is ready for Girls Generation at last!!!
