Girls’ Generation’s success in Japan is evident yet again as Oricon released their yearly sales chart. Amassing a revenue of over 4.3 billion yen (550 billion KRW; $51 million USD), Girls’ Generation tops Korean sales in Japan and was the seventh highest grossing artist overall for 2012. This news comes days after their second Japanese album achieved platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
“Girls’ Generation II ~Girls & Peace~” and three singles, “Paparazzi”, “Oh!”, and “FLOWER POWER” earned high spots in daily, weekly, and monthly Oricon singles charts for the year. The “Girls’ Generation: Complete Video Collection” released in September sold over 87,500 copies and was certified “Gold” by the RIAJ.
Oricon’s yearly chart for 2012 recorded sales from December 26, 2011 to December 17, 2012.

PROUD I BOUGHT IT
Girls Generation are unstoppable. It’s amazing to see them being on top after 5 years…it’s almost unheard of! The Power of 9!!! I’m ecstatic for my angels! <3 I've never been more proud to be a SONE! :D They are killin' it!
I’m so very, very, very, very happy for the girls because it really shows that the girls’ success in Japan is totally never ending and of course the Japanese SONEs really love the girls so very, very, very, very much. I know that 2013 will be Girls’ Generation’s year because they have amazing things coming up in the new year, including the fourth Korean studio album and of course and for sure, the girls’ big American debut. It’s going to be Global Generation in the new year and I know that Girls’ Generation will definitely have the best year of their lives
Proud to be a SONe. Nothing can beat the Power of 9 and the Power of SONE. Congratulation!!!! Hwaiting!!

I’m confused … is that 1st highest grossing for a Korean artist, and seventh highest grossing compared to Japanese artists? Or.. In the world?
1st for Korean artists in Japan, 7th in Japan overall.

I am proud of our Girls and proud to have bought the Type A Girls Generation II Deluxe First Print Limited Edition to help them achieve their domination on the Oricon charts. Can’t wait for their 4th Korean Album! Fighting! Girls!
I wonder if they will repackage this second album, and whether it will sell a million like the last one
Probably won’t sell/ship a million, but maybe they’ll release a repackage under the Japan tour.
Awesome ^^
:’) omg they did it again for 2nd year in a row. i’m so proud of them and of JSones and of Sones all around the world that help support them by purchasing their goodies through sites that help our SNSD in Japan. thank you SSF for news update. i think if they had held their 2nd Japan Tour this year, that would have bring them double more than 2011. i can’t wait to see what 2013 is going to be like for them in S.K., Japan and hopefully USA and Europe and of course the rest of the world.
