The nine member girl group Girls’ Generation has been chosen as Korea’s best “Power Celebrity” for the second year in a row (since 2011). Forbes Korea published their first issue nine years ago, and this was the result of the “Korea’s Power Celebrity 40” survey, where a celebrity is defined as a famous person who is well known amongst the general public. Forbes Korea releases forty people out of a total of one hundred based on the categories of earnings, influence, reputation, and professionalism. This follows the same survey method of Forbes “Celebrity 100” in the US.

Girls’ Generation landed in the number one spot this year. They came in first and second place in the categories for number of articles published, and television commercials plus broadcasted activities respectively. Girls’ Generation is also the most wanted television guest. They shot 36 television commercials, which helps celebrities raise their fame. Their third album, “The Boys”, which was released last year, sold 380,000 copies, making it the best selling album of 2011.
