On the 15th of December, SM Entertainment dropped a surprise on fans of Girls’ Generation by releasing the music video for the Korean version of their Japanese hit, “MR. TAXI”.
Instead of having a music video filmed on set, fans were treated to something different as the video is actually a live performance of the girls during one of their 2011 Girls’ Generation Tour concerts. The performance put up by the girls was of course, perfect, and fans have been leaving comments such as, “I like this MV! It’s great to see the girls being happy while they perform” and “Forever supporting the nine!”

SM makes me sick … Don’t even have a proper music video and put on a live performance instead where other great uploaders like monmon can upload … Oh, this pisses me alot…
Well, the live performance video was good. But its not GOOD to be considered a music video.
Tsk tsk tsk …
live performance mv is a good idea, but I think that this mv could and should be done better
sm should put more effort in this mv, this mv is looks like something that anybody could made
I love this song and I think sm is not serious in making this mv
love the girls and feel upset to sm
hmmm I wonder if they are doing this for a reason…..maybe they are busy with their new songs and didnt want to do too much until then
Well, i think their MCountdown performance is better than this concert video. The only problem for MCountdown version is the absence of Yoona.
I enjoy this PV or MV. Normally in their MVs, girls like Hyo and Soo don’t get to have screentimes even if it is their turn so I like this. Yuri, you’re so beautiful <3
I personally think that they should do a Music Video instead of using a concert video. Normally in the concert, the girls are most likely to not be in their top form, so the music video idea of using a concert tape is not good. But maybe the girls had a tight schedule or something on, hence unable to make the Music Video. What ever the case is, i believe that us, SONEs, will always support them behind their back.
Right Now Its Girls’ Generation~!!!
I honestly prefer this, well, for now. SNSD has had a hectic schedule and doing the MV this way was beneficial to the girls both physically & mentally. Im not sure if SM had that thought on their minds, or maybe they were being a typical cheap ass label, either way im glad the video was made as it was. The girls were probably relieved they didn’t have to suffer the grueling 15+ hours of non stop work. Im happy for the sake of the girls, but I just hope this was a one time thing. It was only appropriate due to their overwhelming schedule.
SNSD, HWAITING!!!
“Forever supporting the nine!” <— That is exactly what I'll be doing for the rest of my life. They are the ONLY group in this world I go oh so crazy over and willing to support for a very long long time to come. We already have 2 Mr. Taxi Japanese MV version floating around on youtube and now we have this Mr. Taxi Korean MV concert version. Thanks SM! Also SM should think about a vacation for the girls, they need one badly.
Thanks you SSF :)
Just a promotional video so calm down sones ;] Personally, i enjoyed this video a lot ^^
i hope this song will be a hit
I’m quite disappointed….
I’m OKAY with it being a concert videos, the girls are busy
But I wished SM would put more effort in it, like including several different performances of Mr. Taxi, showing the cheering of fans, a little bit of the concert backstage materials…
Like Taylor Swift “Fearless” MV video, which is also a concert video, but well cut and made
They obviously need to support their Korean fan base while moving into new markets, and that’s a lot of work. Perhaps they are the hardest working girls in show business? As for the video, think as if you had never seen them before. Their always amazingly tight dancing in this video really shows off what they do so well, and the girls look fresh and energized. It’s great to see how they actually perform it “live”.
(Found some grammer and spelling mistakes)
**But cant u guys be a little considerate and think before commenting?*
**Why just cant u guys think that it is a good idea for those who have yet to buy the 3rd album ‘the boys’ to get a chance to buy this version of the 3rd album?***
**how will they feel when they work so hard even when they are tired, they still do their best in promoting the song for you guys everyday on music shows?**
well.. what can i say..
the girls need rest but the demands for our girls r too high..
i wouldn’t say this is nice move… but hey, this is not a first time a singer/group release this kind of MV…(i’m pretty *self-proclaim* expert with this kind, i’ve been watching many kinds of MVs for 14 years), so i dun think it’s something new or bad move…
SNSD <3
SNSD fighting!!
Sorry to be harsh guys!
Brut cant u guys be a little considerate and think before comment? just cant u guys think that it is a good idea for those who yet to buy the 3rd album ‘the boys’ to get a chance to buy this version of the 3rd album? And further more i think SM also want to show their love for korea therefore they are promoting MR.TAXI in korean. Even so u guys can say this song is already 1 years old, so why even bother to make new MV and dance version which requires so much time.
If u call urself a SONE, u should know the girl’s schedule are packed. Now, even when they are promoting MR.TAXI, Yoona is busy with her drama and unable to join them, do you think it is appropiate to make them shoot new MV and Think of new dances just because they promoting a song??
DO YOU WANT THEM TO GET ALL TIRED?? If u guys think this repackage is worth buying then go ahead and spent the money.
If not, dont say something like ‘so disappointing!’ ‘Wat is SM doing?’ ‘what lazy marketing?’ etc, because is very saddening to see you guys to say such things.
Imagine The Girls or Your personal bias member were to see your message? how will they feel when they work so hard even when they are tired, they still to promote the song for you guys everyday on music shows?
Think about it! Not trying to be mean! (peace) ^^
I’m thinking with the girls in the middle of touring, they just weren’t available to make a full video. You also must remember this song was made specifically for the Japan market first. Give them credit for redoing it in Korean. The next hurrdle will be recording songs in English. I don’t envy them trying to spread their fan base across multiple languages and cultures. I still believe, given the right strategy, our girls could rule the world, but I don’t want them to radically change to do it. English subs have made all the difference in getting to know the group, so keep up the good work Sones. Hwaiting!
well… this was taken during the recent singapore live concert so.. mmmm… brings back memories for us. i mean seriously a new dance to a old song is an old dance no matter how u look @ it. But yeah, i think the repackaged albums are a ripoff. Mayb its time we seen some new dance choreos to some new songs yeah. but all being said. snsd hwighting! sooyoung saranghae! <333
I love SNSD and I “liked” the video but seriously, I’m kinda disappointed.
The way SM is marketing doesnt bode well….
Lazy marketing….
At least make new dance version.
SONEs will run out money… or get mad at having to repurchase repackaged albums that do not contain new content
And give the girls a break… i mean let them rest up a bit for europe in february….
SNSD hwaiting!!
<3 Seohyun
i really don’t see how it’s much different from this http://youtu.be/z9ciD5l5csQ which was released on SM’s (new) official youtube channel half a year ago… i suppose the recent upload has wide shots with a studio track while the upload from half a year ago only has close ups and a pseudo-live track.
i’ve tried turning a blind eye to the poor and lazy marketing
attempts that sm has made over the past few months for a
quick and assured buck, but i can’t anymore. i do not doubt
our girls work ethic, but sm. the girls don’t need to stress
over filming another music video, let them relax. however,
sm shouldn’t come out with new albums and new music videos
and promote them as such when they aren’t that at all. if you
are going to make the girls put effort into promoting something,
make it something new, something fresh. trying to squeeze as
much profit as you can out of something that was proven successful
in the past is pathetic and painfully obvious. please, as i’ve stated
before, will someone at sm, aside from the talent, grow a backbone
and either flat say “the girls deserve a rest” and “be patient” or let
them promote something new and exciting. don’t make these sad
marketing schemes that are only going to get more people frustrated
with your compnay.
this was like watching an HD fancam…
i’m sorry, but this is just disappointing. it’s not the girls fault, but wth is SM doing?! first, instead of releasing a new track for the follow-up to the boys, they decide to promote mr. taxi. fine, its catchy, the fans love it, but guess what? the song is also a year old! and now instead of at least improving on the low-quality of the original japanese mr. taxi MV, they take footage from a concert and play the track over it? i’m sorry. i love the girls. i hate what SM is doing.
I’ve seen many comments about this while not be able to watch cause my computer’s doomed :(
The fact is, it’s not the same way SM used to make MVs so it’s kinda strange for some people. For me, just a new thing to enjoy, that’s all ^^
Aww.. was expecting a new music video for this ~
Anyways, it’s a good change and netizens seem to love it <3
Girls' Generation hwaiting !!~
