Hello Sones around the world!
Since I´ve joined Soshified for quite a while, I thought it would be nice to write a short introduction of myself.
I was born in Austria of Chinese parents, so I grew up bicultural. Even though I´ve spent most of my life living in Austria, I am much more fascinated by Asian culture, mostly due to my Chinese roots.
Soo anyway! I am totally bilingual in German (German is the official language in Austria) and Chinese. Actually I am quite satisfied with my English, but I am far away from perfection. Furthermore, I also know some French and a little bit of Spanish, but I am certainly not fluent in both of them.
(Oh yeah and Latin, but it´s a dead language so one cannot chat in Latin XD)
Due to my fondness for Japanese and Korean culture, I will work on my Korean and Japanese language skills, so hopefully one day I will be able to understand SNSD talking without subs.
Currently, I am a freshman (or rather freshwoman, hehe) medical student and I am really happy with my study.
I have a lot of hobbies, including travelling, languages, art, food, health, doing sport, history and so on. I probably dabble in too many things....
The one thing I invest most time in is travelling. Most of my travelling up until now has been in Europe and China of course. It´s really important for me to get to know different countries and their cultures.
I read a lot of stuff, in a wide variety of genres - fantasy, thriller, comedy etc. I like novels, essays, poems, I am open for every literary branch.
From an early age already, music always played an important role - I like to hum and sing along melodies. I´ve played the piano for nearly 10 years, but I´ve stopped last year due to my busy medical study. T_T (But if possible, I will start playing again!)
Now I should head to my main point - my love for Girls´ Generation!
My first contact with Hallyu was not with K-Pop, but with K-Drama. As I watched a lot of Chinese television, whose TV broadcaster aired much more Korean shows than European stations, I got to know Korean culture at an early age.
The group that introduced me to K-Pop was Super Junior, in particular Super Junior M. They were interviewed in 2009 on the show 鲁豫有约 (A Date with Lu Yu) and I was really impressed by them.
In 2010 I visited my family in China and one day while I was shopping, there was this huge monitor on a mall which broadcasted the music video of Oh!. This was my very first contact with Girls´ Generation but to that time I was more into Anime and Manga so I showed more interest towards Japanese than Korean culture.
Thanks to Super Junior I also got to know SHINee and I was a fan for a few month, until the October 2011.
So, while I was visiting the SMTOWN-YouTube-channel, the teaser for The Boys was on the front page, and out of curiousity I clicked on it. I suddenly remembered those faces that I watched a year ago on the big screen in the shopping mall, but was surprised how much this group changed. I mean, the concept of The Boys and Oh!, these are 2 totally different worlds!
I was eagerly awaiting the release of the full music video of The Boys and when it came out I was speechless. Hooked by their attractive apperance and the captivating choreography and melody, I then started to do more research about them. I watched all their music videos, enjoyed their variety shows, saved their pictures and read fanfictions about them. There wasn´t a day where I didn´t do something related to SOSHI, before I knew it, I became a SONE.
It was the beginning of a new chapter of my life.
When people ask me why my admiration for Girls´ Generation is so deep, I can´t really explain it. It´s just fascinating how 9 girls that I´ve never met before are so important to me. But exactly this feeling connects us Sones all around the world and I appreciate to be a part of this large family. There are no national boundaries and cultural prejudices, we are all simply bound together through our strong affection and unconditional love for these 9 angels.
I hope that my brief account could give you some impressions about my humble self. I would love to meet new people and talk with them, so please do not hesitate to contact me.
