Girls Generation Growing up Through Music

In the recent years, the Korean Wave has been a big hit in Asia and reaching as far as North America. The famous Western Entertainment blog Perez Hilton has even introduced newly released Korean songs to their readers! Among all this, the beauties "Girls Generation" is been known as leading this wave. Sweeping Asia with the huge hit "Gee", the nine extremely cute girls performed 2009's most successful story.

"Girls Generation" in korean is "소녀시대" (pronounced: So Nyuh Shi Dae), also known as SNSD or Soshi. The nine members Yoona, Tiffany, Yuri, HyoYeon, SooYoung, SeoHyun, TaeYeon, Jessica and Sunny, like many idol groups they have a variety of development in entertainment, the most popular Yoona has acted in many dramas, Jessica, Taeyeon and Sunny exploit their talents [cross over] in many fields.

Currently "Girls Generation" is releasing a repackage of their second full album "Oh!", called "Run Devil Rin". The songs in the first release of the "Oh!" album showed a lot of cuteness (kawaii) , with pigtails to portray a fresh image, aiming at young men. The full album's title track "Oh!", "화성인 바이러스 (Boys & Girls)" featuring SHINee member Key, are a genre of cute Bubble-gum Pop. A feeling of amazement was felt when the repackaged album was released with an addition of three new songs, a 180 degrees change in their image, the known pure and cute image was gone being replaced by a dark and sexy image. The new version's title track "Run Devil Run" perfectly matches this image, containing a rich taste of femme fatle. Another newly added song is "별별별 - Star Star Star" with a R&B style. The Producer spent a great amount of time and effort on this song to allow the fans to feel "Girls Generation's" change in musical style, while still maintaining their popularity.
This shows the maturing sound of "Girls Generation."
