You may remember YHY's Sketchbook, where Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun sang solo songs, did an interview, and then performed Twinkle. You may also remember fancams of TTS performing Cater 2 U and other parts in the interview that were edited out of the aired show. T_T
Well one fan was kind and posted all the things he/she remembered that were not aired on the broadcast. Enjoy ^^

1. After Fany was finished with her Rolling in the Deep performance, nobody was coming up on stage to join her and she felt a little awkward kekekeke, so she sat on one of the chairs that the staff put out, and said, "This is Tiffany's Sketchbook >_<" It was so cute keke T__T

2. Taeyeon forgot to bring her mic with her while coming up on stage, so when saying "Hello, we are SNSD!", Taeng sat in the middle and shared the mic with Seohyun and Fany. keke. So Yoo Heeyeol politely got a mic for her himself haha

3. Seohyun had a heart sticker on her cheek kekeke. When she was asked why she had the sticker, she said because they were on Sketchbook, she would make her face a sketchbook! keke Fany added that because she used to put star stickers below her eye, Seohyun was being a leading trendsetter by putting the heart on her cheek keke

4. Taeyeon was introducing the song Take A Bow, and Yoo Heeyeol [YHY] suddenly said, "I like it~", so the girls burst out in laughter, keke. He said, even if Taeyeon were to do a tradition Korean narrative song, he would probably enjoy it, keke. When Seohyun said she sang Jack, he said it was his favourite song keke (YHY was really funny that day..)

5. When they were younger, Taengoo liked to sing and dance haha. Then Fany began praising Taeyeon, saying that she was born with a gift of singing. That part was aired, but what was edited out was Fany saying that she was thankful to Taeyeon for popping out her high notes without going off-pitch during morning rehearsals of The Boys. keke

6. Seohyun said she was coincidentally seen and casted while on the subway when she was 12 years old. The woman who casted her kept following her on the subway, and even chased her down while walking up the stairs, and asked Seohyun to give her a call. When she was younger, she never really dreamed of being a singer, but she had a lot of interest in music because of the piano. When she was talking, Taeyeon asked, "Didn't you have long straight hair back then?" and Seohyun said, "Did... I?", and I don't think she remembered well kekekekeke

7. Fany said when she was 15 years old, she went to audition for a festival while in the States, and got casted for SM. She didn't make the auditions for the festival but instead got many business cards for entertainment companies. haha So of course, she chose to go with SM! (Then she talked about BoA). She said she lived in Diamond Bar near LA, and YHY said, "Oh, that famous bar~" kekekeke then the girls laughed again keke T__T

8. Fany said she thought she was good at Korean, but when she came to Korea, her Korean was poor, she couldn't express her self, and couldn't read well.. so she wondered if she shouldn't have come to Korea at all and regreted it. She was at the age where she needed protection/guidance, but she continued doing what she was doing because she thought that she couldn't give up when she came so far. kekeke In the end, she debuted as SNSD and she has no regrets at all for debuting in SNSD.

9. YHY said he saw Tiffany cry during documentary shows and stuff, and Taeyeon said right away, "You must follow and watch [SNSD] a whole lot.." and the audience burst out in laughter keke.

10. TTS was later asked, if they were to come out with a solo album, what kind of music they would make. Taeyeon said she wanted to do songs like ballads where she can just sit quietly and perform.. or jazz songs! She's sad because she loves listening to jazz, but doesn't have many opportunities to show that on stage T__T. Seohyun said she wanted to write her own songs and be a singer-songwriter, and also perform while playing guitar, hehe. Fany said she wanted to do everything, but she wanted to sing energetic songs with a fast beat because they suit her voice the most!

11. Their taste in music is similar, but also different. They were asked what kind of music do they listen to in the car as they're travelling, and they answered that they listen to their own music with earphones on, keke. As soon as they get in the car, they have their own earphones in. Taeyeon said, "Oh, that doesn't mean we're on bad terms!" keke, when they're in the car, they listen to their own music, but when they're in the waiting room, they're always talking to each other. Keke. YHY added that from watching TV shows, he could tell they sleep a lot when they're in the car. The girls answered that they only happened to be filming when they were sleeping.

12. One song that all three of them enjoy is Cater 2 U.

13. When Fany was explaining the song Cater 2 U, she said with a Korean pronounciation [Kay-tuh-too-you], and Taeyeon told her she can say it comfortably. Keke. So Fany said it properly in English, and Taeyeon added that Fany speaks English, but keeps saying things with a Korean pronounciation! keke

14. When they finished performing Cater 2 U, YHY said, "That was seriously so good, seriously. Their teamwork is like... Brazil's soccer team. (keke) Hit and pull back, hit and pull back." He was full of praises!

15. At the beginning of Cater 2 U, there's a part where it soudns like Fany is rapping, and YHY asked how she memorizes those lyrics. Taengoo said, "that's why we made Tiffany do it..." and Fany said that if the lyrics were in Korean, she wouldn't have done it. kekekeke. They said they only practiced Cater 2 U for four days.

16. Taeyeon said that recently, she likes to spend her free time driving! She said she got her drivers license T__T And Fany said, "She drives me around places kekekeke" When they were asked where they usually drive to, they answered that they only circle the neighbourhood once or twice keke Taeyeon's not good with directions so they can't go far.

17. What about Seohyun? Seohyeon answered, "I just walk." kekekekekekeke She likes walking around places T__T with a hat and mask on. She just walks around the streets a lot and enjoys going to the park or the Han River to walk. When he asked her what she does there, she said she likes having time to think and be by herself. Fany poked, "Books, she reads books." kekekeke. She said Seohyun often goes to the park to read books! YHY asked what kind of books she likes, and Fany poked again, "Self-improvement books". kekekeke Tiffany the unnie kept answering for Seohyun. kekeke

18. What does Tiffany do? Tiffany answered, "Mm.. I like getting myself taken care of [as in going to the spa, salon, etc] or searching for things for upcoming performances, going to watch other performances, getting involved with fashion... When we were resting and it was announced that us three would be a unit, I checked the plans ahead of time and looked into the styles [for clothes]..." Keke Fany is so cute.

19. What is a secret behind SNSD's great teamwork? It's important to have a lot of conversation. They have their 5-minute talks every day, but they've been busy recently, so they make sure to have it at least once a week! For birthdays, they sit around in a circle with candles~ keke. Candles help to create a mood where they can reveal more honest/sincere thoughts and feelings. They've cried before during their 5-minute talks, when the members felt apologetic toward each other and resolved the misunderstandings they had!

20. They asked if any of them try hard to get more camera time, or something along those lines. Sunny's name came up and Fany began imitating her kekeke

21. Who is the most brusque/blunt? "We're all pretty good/friendly on stage..." Then what about off-stage? The members pointed at Taeyeon at the same time, and Taeyeon said, "I guess... I guess it's me..", kekekeke. YHY praised Taeyeon by saying she was very laid back when she was a radio DJ, kekeke. Taeyeon said she just likes comfortable things! It shows in her fashion style - she likes comfortable and baggy/big clothing. They said that when Fany tries to dress her in pretty, girly clothes, Taeng looks in the mirror and says, "Why am I like this today...?" keke. When their stylist unnie tries to dress her in pretty clothes, Taeyeon says she feels like she can't dance properly T__T. Taeyeon added, "so if I look too much like a girl..." 22. When will SNSD come back to promote? "It's too early to name an exact date, but... eh... very soon..! keke" They said they'll appear very soon, so we should always be on our toes and wait! 23. While they were introducing their next performance, Twinkle, Fany said, "Sunbae!" and called over YHY to give him a signed CD. YHY showed off his CD to the audience and almost died from happiness... o<-<

24. After Twinkle was over, we thought they were done, but it appeared that there was an audio problem with Taeng's Take a Bow performance, so she had to record it over again. Taeyeon did exercises to warm up her vocal chords, and ahah... her voice...

There's an MC that talks before the show starts, and while Taeng was on stage, that MC tried to hype up the audience by saying, "Everyone, Taeyeon is so beautiful, isn't she?" and Taeng turned around to say hello and bowed. The MC also greeted by saying, "Ah, yes, hello, nice to meet you," and when he met Taeyeon's eyes, said, "Ah..." and was mesmerized because she was so pretty. Taeng was flustered again kekekekeke

27. While singing Take A Bow, something must have been wrong, so Taeyeon stopped and said, "Sorry, I'll do it again". Those words, the mark of a professional... ahh.. so cool.

1. The girls said thank you to everyone for attending the music show broadcasts, and asked at what time they usually come. We SONEs said we go the night before so the girls eyes became O_O?! kekeke
When they asekd if we spend the night in front of the building, there were a lot of answers that we stay overnight at PCbang, jjimjilbang*, or other places, so Seohyun summarized it nicely by saying, "I think they all have different answers keke"

*PCbang = similar to internet cafe or Jjimjilbang steam room/sauna

2. The girls talked about how their recent promotions were, and Taeyeon said she became more taeyeon. [In Korean, "taeyeon" means to be calm and composed]. Before, she was a perfectionist, but now she changed a bit so she can adjust to the environment.
Seohyeon said she enjoyed the promotions. She enjoyed doing their activities very much.
The girls said they loved that SONEs came to see, and that we give them so much energy.
And they added that their energy varies depending on the SONEs' atmospheres. So when SONEs were quiet, the girls would intentionally try to start conversations with us. They said it gives them a lot of strength when SONEs are screaming and stuff.
Oh, and Taeyeon was thanking us, and wondered aloud if there were words that were stronger than "thank you" because she couldn't express all of her feelings with just "thank you" keke.
So she thanked us in a strong but cute way keke

3. The girls asked us which broadcasting show they liked best, keke.
Most of us liked either liked Music Core or Inkigayo so the girls asked us to raise our hands in a vote between the shows from MCountdown to Show Champ, keke. A lot of people raised their hands for Music Core so they asked us why, so we shouted, "The MC spots!!", and the girls agreed with us. keke
Fany said she's been asking the director to change studios for the show. She added that before on Music Core, they were able to stand close to the SONEs and talk with them and stuff, but now it's really awkward to do so, and that the SONEs' legs become sore and have to suffer [from standing too long] T__T

4. While the girls were talking, a cake was brought in.
The girls stared at their managers with a look of blame keke. As if they were demanding why they had to interrupt their conversation with a cake. kekeke
First, we SONEs sang a song we had prepared.
The Congratulations song kekeke but we didn't get the timing right so we were kind of off and messy kekeke, but the girls said, "you must have practiced a lot~ it's so touching~" kekeke
They blew the candles out and realized that our views were blocked because of the table with the cake, so Fany dragged the table out of the way herself.

5. Question time, keke
A board with a bunch of 5-word questions was brought out, and the girls were filled with drive.
It was clear that there were over 50 or 60 questions, but they wanted to answer all the questions from beginning to end.

6. I think the question was along the lines of, "When do you twinkle the most?". Taeyeon said she's amazed at herself when she gets out of the car and sees that she's parked it perfectly keke. Fany answered, when she's singing and when she's wearing pink. She said that when she wears pink, her expressions change too.
Seohyun said she feels good when she nails her "noonae hwak dduijanah~" part. [her high-note adlib near the end of Twinkle]

7. Who is the king of driving?
This question came before the question above.
Fany said she's the only one without a license now so she's scared. They then added that a few days ago, Fany, Taeyeon, and Sooyoung went out in Sooyoung's car, but they got out of the car with ab muscles. They imitated how their bodies would jerk when Sooyoung would make sudden stops keke. It was so funny when they imitated Sooyoung, too.
"HEY, YOU SHOULD'VE WARNED ME TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN 50 METERS AHEAD OF THE TURN!!" keke
And they imitated Sooyoung's driving position, saying that her arms arms are so long that they make right angles when she holds the steering wheel, and everyone burst in laughter kekekeke

9. How was Dream Concert?
Taeyeon said a few days ago, they heard from an SM staff that we tried hard to reserve the L,M,N,P section seats. They asked us why we liked that spot so we said, because we can get a nice view. Taeyeon said, "Ahh, for a nice view~ You must have have seen us this clearly", and indicated with her fingers to indicate, 'only this~ much' kekeke [as if to say they must've been tiny because the seats were far]
And Fany said all 3 of them lost their minds during Dream Concert, and they made their gestures really big kekeke

10. The members' recent states.
They're doing well. They said, "SNSD doesn't rest~" keke

11. What dramas do you watch?
Seohyun said she watches "A Gentleman's Dignity", and Taeyeon asked who appears in the drama keke

I noticed that a lot of people don't understand what Hyoyeon meant with her sentence...
Just to help clarify things for some people, this is what a roly poly toy is:

it's one of those toys with characters on them that roll around when you push them, but never fall.
she's not referring to T-ara's song "Roly Poly"

My own personal guess to what she meant is that because of everybody who has supported her until now ("Because there are those who trust and encourage……."), she's able to be happy, silly, carefree like a roly poly toy that never falls ("I became a roly-poly Hyoyeon!! ^^").
It's just her way of thanking everybody, for helping her to be who she is now. Maybe there were just too many people to name?

If I hadn’t written that one line with a “P.S” on the card I gave to Fany at the fansign event two days before…
Then none of this would have happened.
What’s more important than me telling that story to Fany… is that this incident showed that Fany doesn’t throw away any of the fans’ letters or cards, but she reads each and every one…
And Hyoyeon, listening to the story said… “That’s right..” which means Hyoyeon saw it too? --;;
And plus, Fany was happy when she saw that…

After a few days, another Run Devil Run fansign event came up..
Fany and Taeyeon were put in the same team..
I didn’t hesitate… I just tried for it… and I got chosen.
It was a little difficult because it was the weekend, but I couldn’t miss out on it.
On the page with Fany’s picture in the album, I wrote on a post-it note, “Stephanie’s Dad.”
It came to Fany’s turn..
Fany gave a light greeting… and seeing at what Yuri signed, she double-checked my name..
And as soon as she flipped to the page with her picture… she jumped up in surprise and greeted me again..
And she told me.. that she told the story of my daughter on the radio.
I told her that I saw it, and I said thank you.
And I also said I’ll see her later in Shanghai and left.

Actually when I went to Shanghai, there were many complications..
Starting from purchasing the ticket… to lying to my family… taking a short break from work…
The people I was supposed to go with cancelling…
Getting new people to go with… That was such big of a hassle, I won’t write about that…
Many people have also written about what the Shanghai concert was like, so I won’t go into too much detail…

I thought I got really good seats when I bought my ticket… but when I saw my seat when I got there, it was absurd…
If comparing to the standing ABCD sections from the concert in Korea… that whole standing area was arranged with seats.
I got seats around what would have been section B… but the seats in sections A and B don’t face the main stage, the two sections face each other.
So to see the main stage, you’d have to turn your head 90 degrees to the right…
It was so strange.
When I sat down, it was totally 90degrees turned away from the stage, so I could barely see it T_T
This seat was worth about 220 000 in Korean won. [~ $193 USD]
I was so appalled at that moment… I was dumbfounded…
(I have a lot of things to say to SM about this too, but I won’t say that here…)
Even though I was at the concert, I was thinking “forget this” and really wanted to leave…
So I might as well not have watched the girls’ first performance… All I was doing was thinking whether I should buy another ticket from a scalper outside…

But I was being tested to see if I was truly a dukhoo to my bones.
When the girls started singing, I stood on top of the backrest of the seat… not even the seat itself… not even the armrest of the seat… and sang along to the songs, cheered, and practically danced along to the songs together with the Chinese fans.
I saw the working miracles of ITNW that can save even a dying dukhoo…
The seat that I stood on top of collapsed.. and I was squished under with the Chinese fans T_T
Because of that, I sprained my ankle and was in pain for a few days
(Girls… you don’t really have to know… that this samchon went through all this trouble just to see you.. T_T)
But anyway, because they were singing ITWN… I found myself getting back up to cheer again… OTL


The seat I had was in front, on the very right corner…
Fany came to the section… and I yelled out at her as if my throat was going to explode…
But obviously she wouldn’t hear me.. --;;
When the concert was at about the half-way point… the song “Be happy” came on…
Fany dragged Seohyun and came toward my section…. And she dragged her to the very right corner of the stage..
(My favourite song at that time was “Be Happy” T_T)
Fany found me sitting at the very front… and she seemed to be really surprised..
She waved her hand and suddenly stopped… and did a 90-degree bow towards me..
And in a moment of confusion, I did a big bow back… T_T
I was so confused… and when I looked around me… the Chinese dukhoos looked at me and went, “What the heck is this dukhoo?”
When I looked behind me… the Korean dukhoo and Japanese dukhoo that I came along with… both were looking at me with totally shocked expressions….
I wasn’t mistaken… T_T

Hmm, what should I say…
When I first saw Fany… I felt, “Oh, so Fany is this kind of kid..”
In the middle of singing on stage… just because she saw a fan she recognized… she does a big bow to them…
I don’t know if their management company would have disapproved of that…
But being so glad to see her… I unconsciously bowed back like a child…
I think Fany might be too pure/innocent of a kid to be a celebrity…
But… seeing her like that makes her so loveable…
And I’m definitely not saying these things just because she acknowledged me and said hi to me… --;;

And lastly… the recent Biotherm fansign event..
I already wrote a post about that crazy event after I went, but …
I brought Kim Dukhwa’s Fany figurine to deliver it for him…
So I could give the Fany figurine to its respective owner…
[I guess somebody made a doll of Fany and Stephi’s dad was delivering it to Fany for this person]

I was getting Yuri’s signature first, but Fany recognized me before anyone…
I took out the Fany figurine, and as soon as Fany said thank you… she looked down and took a while to write something out…
I didn’t even tell her my name, but she wrote it for me… “Stephi’s dad”

A dongseng once said to me, “Hyung… I started believing in the SNSD's effects of making the society innocent/pure because of you…”

Now that I think about it, the girls have changed a lot of things in this ahjusshi’s life.
They flipped over this ahjusshi’s dry and dull daily life… ^^;;
I never planned to write such a long post, but it just keeps getting longer as I write..
How should I say it?... I haven’t been in this fandom for long, but I’m just writing as to organize my thoughts perhaps.
I’ll try to keep it as brief as I can.

If all of you were at one of the girls’ shoots, what would you be thinking of?
The thing that I was thinking in my head was how I wanted just one picture with the girls.
If I just asked, they probably wouldn’t refuse to take one with me… and I wasn’t afraid of what the companies would think…
I just really didn’t want to be a bother to the girls.
I just comforted myself by thinking, “That’s right… this is how a true ahjusshi fan would feel,” and cried to myself in my head. T_T
Oh! And also, the model for the product which I was in charge of was Tiffany.
Saying that I of course didn’t have any other ulterior motives… would be a lie --;;


I was so happy seeing them give it their all to shoot a few cuts.
And it was almost nearing the end of the shoot, so Taeyeon had to leave to DJ, and a few other members had to leave as well.
Before they left, only Sica came personally to say goodbye…
It’s only manners to greet like that in the advertisement business, but it surprised me a little bit because I imagined Sica to be chic.

For the last shoot/cut, the “main” members out of the nine had individual shots.
Those members were Tiffany, Yoona, Yuri, and Sooyoung.
Just when they were filming, a person of very high position in the advertising company came by. They’re a true advertising company.
He was checking up if the shoot was going well and things like that, when he asked me if I’d taken a picture with the girls.
So I said that the schedule started a bit late and there was no time, so I couldn’t take a picture. I also said that I was okay, though, and that watching the girls all day was enough. --;;
He got angry at one of the head chiefs that worked for him.
He said, “What are you doing? Not even letting them take one picture?!”
And then he grabbed me, when I kept refusing, and dragged me over to take a picture with them.
But the funny thing was that I couldn’t bring myself to stand near Tiffany T_T
So in the midst of all the craziness, I stood beside Yuri.
Being awkward and embarrassed, I said to Yuri, “Hello. Can we take a picture?...”
And then Yuri said, “Okay, thank you”… T_T
Seriously… we’re taking a picture and she says thank you… heh
Yuri, kid, I’m the one that’s thankful!!! If you say the words that I was supposed to say, this samchon feels awkward! T_T


This very picture leads to a whole different story with Tiffany.. ^^;;
There was another fansign, and luckily, I got picked to go for both events.
The 9 girls were split into two teams, a morning team and an evening team. One team would have a signing at Shinara, and the other later in the evening at Hottrack.
Sadly, they couldn’t remember me.. ^^;;
It’s not like they’ve only been to just one or two advertisement photo shoots, and they meet so many different people… it would actually have been weird if they remembered me.
But nevertheless, I successfully got Tiffany’s signature for the first time.. ^^

And a while later, during SNSD’s second year anniversary…
Taeyeon… wore the present… on ChinChin… the one I gave her, the one my wife handmade for her…
She wore the pink hairpin T_T
And that same day, she appeared as a guest on Shim Shim Tapa wearing the same hairpin.
Ah… so this is what they mean when they say the girls verify the gifts in public…
I was so touched x100 T_T
Fany and Taeyeon… just keep surprising me ^^;;




Last December, the girls held their first solo concert.
Before their concerts, I got SNSD shirts with a few other dukhoo’s I know.
The T-shirt that SNSD wore when they were singing…
I got one Fany shirt and one Taeyeon shirt.
Actually… I got baseball team’s jerseys made for Fany and Taeyeon as well.. --;; I got their names, Hwang Miyoung, and Kim Taeyeon printed on them.. hehe

Well first of… I bought standing tickets for both days of the concerts ahead of time…
I was planning to wear Fany’s shirt one day, and Taeyeon’s shirt the second day.
But a few days before the concert, I got a call from the company.
SM was offering tickets for the people that worked for the advertising company.
The seating area that was being offered were seats that weren’t sold to the regular public.
I thought that since I would have standing tickets for one day, it would be good to sit in a nice seat for the other day.

The first day of the solo concert… the members of the advertising company was allowed to enter through a different door.
Our bags weren’t inspected, and we were directly taken to a room with a buffet prepared out for us..
When we were there, we were asked to wait just a moment because the girls were going to come soon to say a message… omg --;;
After a moment, the girls came in their angel outfits and greeted us briefly..
Phew... the girls were standing right in front of my eyes with those outfits…
I was proud that I was even able to stay standing up T_T
Taeyeon, as a representative, said that it was their first concert so they were very nervous. And she asked for lots of support.
They said something like that and went straight to the stage.
I was taken to my seat, so I took off my thick jacket and revealed my identity as a fan with my Fany shirt.. hehehe

The fun part about the advertisers’ seating was that it was relatively spacious… because of course there aren’t any sones in the seats for advertising companies.. --;;
Some people didn’t even show, and the two people who I came with left early because they were bored.
(I guess the girls’ concert can actually be boring to those who aren’t duhkoo’s T_T)
So anyway, the seats in front of me and beside me were empty.
When it got to about the middle of the concert, Fany came up front and was very surprised when she saw me.
(To be honest, I was trying really hard for Fany to notice me T_T)
She acknowledged me by laughing… and even waved at me…
Later, she came back one more time, spotted me again, and acknowledged me one more time T_T


If you see this picture, you’ll think that there was no way for Fany NOT to notice me…
If you look carefully to the left of Fany’s leg, there’s somebody wearing a white shirt… that’s me.. ^^;;
Of course she wasn’t acknowledging me because she knew me.. ^^;;
She was just happy to see a samchon fan there with a Fany shirt on..
I was just happy to have her wave at me, but I never thought that she would actually remember me…
But I would learn later that she remembered it T_T

The next day, I caught a serious cold.
My wife saw me and forbade me from going to the concert. She said that she would never see me going to the concert while my body was dying…
So holding back my tears, I gave up the second day of the concert, and for the coming encore concert in February, I got good first floor seats.
The seats were similar to the advertisers’ seats for the solo concert.
I wore the Fany shirt to the concert again, but Fany didn’t come by the section like the last time T_T
But hearing Fany and Jessica’s “Caramel Coffee” just once was enough… it was so heavenly T_T

On the second day of the encore concert, or I guess the last concert… I got standing tickets.
It was really difficult but it was fun nonetheless.
Whenever the girls passed by, all the duhkoo’s would crowd that side. Hahaha
But still, I enjoyed the last concert and had lots of fun.
The girls’ performances were so amazing…
But the duhkoos were…. Wahhhh T_T

Between the regular solo concert and the encore concerts, Sica performed in the musical Legally Blonde.
Including the opening and last performances, I went a total of four times.
Should I call it a rediscovery of Sica?
I thought that it would be great if Fany were to be casted in a musical.

And around that time, my daughter got baptized at our [Catholic] church.
[When his daughter got baptized, he gave his daughter the name Stephanie as her Catholic name]
After a while, news of the Shanghai concert came around.
Originally, I had a business trip in Shanghai so I was planning to go to the concert while I was there, but my business trip got delayed so I got tickets for the concert so I could just go as a personal trip.

Also, there was another fansign event..
Fany, Sooyoung, and Sica attended the event.
This fansign event… was for people that would buy items a lot more expensive than Biotherm make-up products…
Of course… I was invited as well.. ^^;;
I got to go with another samchon dukhoo who is a Sica fan.
(If you add the ages of us two dukhoos, we’re 81 years old together)
When we went, we were so surprised… there were unexpectedly not a lot of people..
Perhaps, it was too expensive for people to buy the product just for the sake of going to that fansign event. It was mostly just regular people who bought the product.
And since the event was at 5pm on a regular weekday, I guess it was difficult for a lot of people to come.
But it was at CGV, so it was very comfortable.
The important thing, though, was that since it wasn’t a crowded fansign event, the staff weren’t really pressuring.
Not even 50 people gathered for the event… and no matter how many times I looked around, we were the only two dukhoos there.
The together-81-year-old dukhoos felt a strong sense of obligation.
We felt that we needed to be wild and enthusiastic so that the girls wouldn’t feel embarrassed and awkward.
If it were another fansign event, there would be other dukhoos there so we wouldn’t need to… but this situation was different.. --;;
When the girls entered, the two ahjusshis got up and gave a standing ovation, cheering.
Two young students behind us giggled, and the girls laughed… T_T
Fany’s eyes/expression then was unusual…

Sica, Fany, Sooyoung… they sat in that order.
First, Sica…
She saw the picture I brought and I told her my name… She laughed and asked, “How long ago was this picture from?” …
Yes, I brought a picture of her from the Gee days with her short fish hair.. hehehe
[By “fish” hair, I’m guessing it’s either her octopus hair or just her short hair]
I liked that look on her.. ^^;;
I told her, “I’m enjoying your musical.”
“Huh? Really?”
“I saw the musical twice, and I’m going to see it two more times, including tomorrow, too.”
“Huh? Really?” (She’s really, really surprised.. --;; )
“I saw both the solo concert and the encore concert, and I’m also going to Shanghai.”
“Really? Thank you..” (By then, Sica might have gotten a little creeped out… T_T)
I gave her presents and exchanged a few words, shook hands… but my mind and memory has already gone off into space. T_T

Next, Tiffany…
Even before I say anything, Fany speaks first, “You came to the concert, right?”
What? What did I just hear?

I asked, “You remember that?”

At the fansign event, when I changed into the shirt that I wore to the first day of the concert… I only had the smallest amount of hope that she’d remember…
The first day of the concert… when she came by me twice and acknowledged me by waving… I thought, “no way.”
But………………………………………
That means that out of the thousands of dukhoos… she remembered me… T____________________________T
This picture… really… is one that shows that Fany made this dukhoo go crazy…
A long time ago, when Fany said, “We ate the food deliciously..” that was the best moment… T_________T
She acted like she recognized the picture…
And we were talking about the solo concert, the encore concert, and the Shanghai concert for a long time, but… my mind was already far off into space.. T_T
For a dukhoo at his fourth fansign event, I went into total speechless mode.. --;;
Totally dumbfounded, we shook hands…
Then I gave her my gift… and a birthday gift for Taeyeon as well..
And when I looked later, I saw that Tiffany signed two sheets for me.. ^^;;



And Sooyoung…
When I showed her the picture we took together, she remembered it…. T____T
“Ah, it’s the picture we took last time?”
Tiffany already sent me to outer space, Sooyoung made my mind go even further…
I was definitely in dumbfounded mode T_T
After talking about the concerts.. and the Shanghai concerts... and shaking hands… I pulled myself together and realized that Sooyoung also signed twice for me.
Plus she even added a sweet, “Be healthy..” T_________________T
Sooyoung… this oppa will be healthy just for you.. T_T
Losing my mind, I almost forgot to give her the present I had for her.. ^^;;

After coming back to my seat, the dukhoo beside me was practically passed out.. --;;
And every time we caught the girls’ eyes, we’d wave and fly them hearts…
The two dukhoos that are 81 years old together were doing and saying silly things like that --;;
Sooyoung was cool and and smiled and waved back… even shot us back some hearts.. ^^;;
People kept blocking our view of Fany, but Sica, seeing the dukhoos act so flippantly…
She, so chicly, burst out laughing.. ^^;;
Probably the only person in this universe that can burst out laughing so chicly is Jessica.. haha

That finished, and the event organizers wanted to get things in order.
Just then, I remembered something. I wanted to ask the girls a question, but I forgot to ask any of them.. T_T
So when the girls were just about to say goodbye, I yelled out, “I have a question~!!” --;;
The girls were surprised and looked over…
I yelled, “Have you seen, ‘The Qualities of a Man?’”…
[Qualities of a Man is the variety show where the samchon-fan-celebrities attended the concert. If you saw the video of the samchon fans in the audience, you'll remember that show]
The girls’ faces suddenly turned red… and Fany quickly grabbed the mic and talked for about a whole minute…
The only thing I remember her saying is that she had so much fun watching it…
That they feel reassured, and samchon fans are so cool… that’s basically all she said.
(I was also active at SSD, so I told that to them… T_T)
Then they were each saying their goodbyes, when Sooyoung said, “We’re going to have a new song…”
And I yelled out again, “I’ll save my taxi fares and buy the album~!!” … ^^;;
Sooyoung said, “He must be a genuine fan… he remembers things I said just yesterday..”
[This is what Sooyoung said on Taeyeon’s radio birthday party... sorry >_<]
And also, I wrote cards for Fany, Sooyoung, and Sica… on Fany’s card, I wrote, “I gave my daughter the name Stephanie as her baptismal name ^^”
I didn’t think that the one line would lead to such an epic story… T_T

When was it? When I first saw the girls…
To be honest, I don’t really remember...
Because I hated SM so much… so I never cared about singers from that company.
(Actually, except for a few artists, I never had interest in the music world at all)
Lee Sooman was the one who brought over this useless concept of “idols” to Korea, made the music world a marketplace, and also exploits children… that’s the SM that I always thought of.
Now, I forgive him for a lot of things because he was the one who let me see the girls… but even now, I don’t have the most positive image of him.. --;;
The reason why my image of him changed at least a little bit, though, was my wife.

My wife… she was an arts university student who studied design with lots of dreams for the future… but then she got married and now she suffers and can’t even see her husband’s face often.
When she was having a hard time raising our baby daughter, the one who consoled her was DBSK’s Junsu.
Yes, he’s an idol, but I guess he’s different from all others because of the way my wife makes great, passionate speeches on his ability to sing. So I thought, “Ah… I guess he’s a bit different…”
Knowing well my wife’s taste in the music area, I never disregarded her judgement.
And so my wife was the first to walk the life of a duhkoo.
[A dukhoo or duhkoo is kind of like a japenese otaku – a “crazy”, or rather very dedicated fan]
Going to Korean performances were obvious, but she would also venture to Japan.
She was having a tough time, but as a husband, I wasn’t even a help to her… so I just let her do whatever she wanted. I thought it would be okay if she took a break from her life as a married woman once in a while.
And I was curious as to exactly how attractive this Junsu was, being able to make my wife do those things… but I never found out ^^;;

At the time, my daughter, Stephanie, who was still very young, followed her to the SM concert, Dream concert, and all those places. Haha
To be honest, I’ve never even seen SNSD’s ITNW performance properly during their debut period because I don’t watch Gayo programs.
I saw them by chance when I was flipping through the channels. That’s how I was able to see Tiffany.
I only remember thinking one thing… her eyesmile!!! It was enough to make me say, “What kind of a girl is this?”
So I totally fell… I even remember watching Kkokko Tour.. ^^;;
But even still, I held on to my stereotype of idols… I just thought, “The kid named Tiffany is so cute and pretty… but 9 members is still too much!!!”
And I was an ahjusshi that was almost 40 years old… I couldn’t imagine liking an idol group of high school girls.

It was the song, “Oppa Nappa,” that I downloaded by chance one day that did it for me…
It was by chance because I didn’t download it because SNSD sang it. When I first listened to it, it was way too cheesy for me.
I never even heard of the group called Roommate, and if it was a SNSD song, I probably would have never downloaded it. --;;
The funny thing is, the lyrics are so disgustingly cheesy, but I started singing along to it at some point, which scared myself.
I listen to music when I’m driving through my iPod. It would be on when I first turn on my iPod, and it’s not easy flipping through songs on my iPod when I’m driving.
So after listening to it a few times, SNSD’s voices engulfed me. --;;
I found out later that it was a project album for Roommate, and that’s how I found Tiffany’s name… T_T

There’s a bar behind the SM office that I used to visit often… and I even saw Lee Sooman at that bar a few times. --;; (They say that he visits from time to time to drink some wine)
Once, for fun, I asked them to turn on “Oppa Nappa”… the manager there asked who’s song it was, and when I told them SNSD…
She said, “Oppa… our bar has a certain type of atmosphere… a SNSD song wouldn’t be all too great..”
I got a little angry for some reason… --;; What, is it low-class to listen to SNSD?
So I said, “Don’t turn it on then, if you want to cut business with me.”
And maybe because I was a regular at the place, they unwillingly turned on the song for me.
The bartender and manager listened and said, “It’s not bad after you listen to it.”
I wasn’t even a fan back then, but I felt a little proud.

And then, I got to hear Taeyeon’s solo songs… “If,” and “Can You Hear”…
That’s when I thought, “Ohh, so this is how my wife fell for Junsu.”
That’s also when I started slowly downloading the girls’ songs and watching their videos.

That was around winter of 2008 to the beginning of 2009. It was a tough time for me, personally.
I dropped out of a project at work, and had to start a new project because it wasn’t going well.
And during December, January, and February, I kept leaving on business trips.
There are a lot of times I spend by myself when I’m on a business trip. So I always brought my iPod and movies downloaded onto my external hard drive.
This is when I started downloading videos of the girls.
It was when SNSD came back with “Gee”.
And I had been into Taeyeon for a while, and WGM even came out.
I would go on business trips for 1 or 2 weeks, and I watched all the videos I brought with me.
My last trip of February was to Kuala Lumpur… and that time, I actually laughed out loud by myself watching the videos. T_T
And I stopped leaving my hotel, ate room-service food… I was a total couch potato, and watching myself search up videos of the girls on youtube… I thought, “What am I doing?”
I thought about it while I was just sitting there in my hotel room having a smoke…
I couldn’t deny the fact that I became a SNSD fan.

I know that I’m just falling for SM’s marketing schemes..
But nothing else has ever given me so much energy.
I just like it when I see the girls that are so healthy.
It makes me wish that my daughter grows nicely just like them… Oh no, I do not have any intentions of making my daughter a celebrity (She neither has the looks or talent).
I just hope I could see Taeyeon’s face one day.
My excuse was that I didn’t want to become a “fan” because it was embarrassing for a 40 year old man to follow around kids, and I was busy.. T_T

And that… is how I started my SNSD fandom…
At the beginning, I exprienced difficulty and I also experienced luck…

The difficult part of being in this fandom was that it was my first time in a fandom, and I didn’t know what to do at all.
I actually started by searching online what I should do.. --;;
After I posted my story online, there was a big discussion on SNSD… and they said that there were a lot of samchons (uncles) at the SNSD fansite SSD or Soshidang. (Korean SNSD fansite)

How I got lucky was that after I started liking SNSD, I found that they were actually pretty close to me.. ^^;;
A company that was linked to mine through business was an advertiser for SNSD.
Because of many reasons, that company was in a position where they were trying to gain my [or my company’s] favor. The model for that company was none other than… SNSD!!!
There probably aren’t many other duhkoos out there that share the same luck I had… --;;
The first time I saw the girls was last year, at the opening of the second day of pro baseball… it was the second time Yuri pitched and SNSD also performed that day.

(Actually, there were more chances for me to be able to see them… and even Tiffany… T_T
But I couldn’t go because I was busy.. OTL
At some club in Gangnam, there was an event going on, and I was promised a picture with Tiffany.. T_T
Now that I think about it, I should have gone no matter how busy I was… wahhhh… )

There was also recently a fansign event. If I entered a contest/draw and won, I could have gone to the fansign event…
I went as just a participant.. T_T
Taeyeon, Sica, and Hyoyeon were at the event.
I like Taeyeon at that time… ah… of course, I still like Taeyeon as much as Tiffany now… ^^;;
But even still, I never even thought of registering at Taeyeon’s fansite. --;;
Anyway, I prepared a present for Taeyeon and went to the event.
It was my first time seeing them up close and also my first time at a fansign even, so I was confused and didn’t know what to do.
The last one to sign was Taeyeon, and I randomly said something out of nowhere…
Even if I didn’t get to hear it from the other members, I really wanted to hear Taeyeon call me “Oppa” just once T_T
Taeyeon was about to sign something for me, but without me even thinking about it, I said something…
I said, “I’m not crazy… but can you call me oppa?” --;;
Taeyeon, who was looking down to sign her autograph, looked up and burst out laughing!
She said, “I was just going to do that even if you hadn’t asked… oppa” ^^;;
That’s when I lost my mind...
For a while, I couldn’t even work properly because of Taeyeon T_T

And the moment of fate was finally about to come…
SNSD was chosen for an advertisement shoot.
This was the first turning point for me during this fandom.
I was going to spend a whole day with SNSD crammed in a small space!
This kind of luck came upon me… T_T
In order to take care of the girls, I did so much…
First, I asked my wife for a favor.
My wife picked up crafts as a hobby after we got married, and taught crafts at the mall community center.
My wife personally made ribbon hairpins, headbands, and cards for the girls.
Of course, I thanked her by buying her a brand name handbag... --;;
And I said that I would prepare meals and snacks for the girls, and things to eat for the staff as well…
Now that I think about it, I think I spent as much money as any fan site would.
I had to pay in advance for things like fruits, salad, and other foods that had to be prepared that day.
But… during her sleep at night, Sica got a mosquito bite… and on her eye,too…
So Sica’s eye swelled up and the advertisement shoot was delayed.
Damn mosquito… I’ll curse you for eternity… although you’re probably dead now --;;
So anyway, I gave all that food away untouched to another company because I couldn’t bring it to my own office… and gave them a party… OTL
All that money… augh T_T
But I don’t think all that money went to waste.
The day of the shoot did come, but it was during the time when there was a huge fiasco about the plane on the cover of their Tell Me Your Wish album when they made a comeback. --;;
Worrying about the girls, I went to the photo shoot place extra early and prepared their gifts before they arrived.
I wouldn’t have courage to do so while seeing them, so I wanted to leave the gifts there quietly and leave.
Should I call that the samchon-concept? Taking care of the girls, but not wanting to be seen… --;;
In the waiting room, the girls saw the gifts and liked it ^^;;
They tried on the hairpins and asked each other if it looked okay..
And they were curious as to who left it there.
But a coordinator (stylist), who was already there early, saw me leaving the gifts there… and when the manager came later, he asked where all of the stuff came from.
It was my first time acting as a dukhoo, so I really didn’t know. --;;
I didn’t know there would be a problem if I just quietly left it there and left… but I found out later that leaving gifts was not so simple.
They have to go through a manager or staff first, and they can’t just be left there.
This clueless samchon fan…. What was I to know? T_T
Word spread that there was a situation where a duhkoo sneaked into the tightly-secured photo shoot to leave the presents there.. --;;
I have so many things to say to SM and the manager, but I can’t post these things here so I won’t say it.
The manager started to ask for details.
The stylist pointed to me and I heard her say, “That man over there wearing the black suit”…
I made myself a promise right there and then that I would never wear a suit, and certainly not a black one, in front of the girls ever again.. T_T
Finally, the manager went to ask the advertisers, and not even the advertising agency, what the presents were --;; not even the advertising agency.

I don’t know if you all know this, but… an advertisement is made possible through an advertising agency.
In other words, let’s say the advertiser (the company wanting to make an advertisement) is company A, and that the advertising agency is company B and SM is company C.
The advertiser cannot tell SM what to do or not do…
They have to go through the advertising agency, in order to pass a message to SM. (Or A has to get through B, so that B can relay the message to C).
[So basically, the manager (C ), skipped over B and talked directly to A because he was so worried, and the presents made such a big hassle]

I totally understand that the manager was just making sure because he cared about the girls…
But that’s not what you do in the business world.
Of course, what I did wasn’t sensible, either… T_T
And someone from the advertiser, company A, explained to him carefully…
That there’s one person from the advertiser company that really likes the girls, and he prepared food to eat in thoughtfulness of the girls. They explained this to him very well.
Because the girls were watching this whole scene happen…
The situation and atmosphere became weird --;;
Somebody from the advertising company was a dukhoo T_T
(I’m not even from the advertising company… OTL)
At that moment, all I could think was, “Ah.. I caringly prepared these things for the girls, but I didn’t know the gifts could be burdensome for them.”
I don’t know if it just me being paranoid, but it felt as if the girls became slightly uncomfortable, as well.
I screwed up everything. The nice and heartwarming scene I imagined in my head went out the window… This is so not it T_T
I was so upset I went out for a smoke and came back. I was debating whether I should leave because I gave the girls such a burden… I didn’t want to make them feel uncomfortable T_T
I came back after a smoke, and the girls were lined up after getting ready for the shoot.
At that moment, when I came in, Tiffany saw me and suddenly bowed and said, “We ate the food deliciously~!” so loudly that it rang in the studio. T_T
What should I say of this moment…
It was like I was in hell, and a wonderful white angel came down and grabbed me to take me back up to heaven? T_T
I still think about that moment.

I don’t think Tiffany is the type of person to be calculating or the type to make up words.
She can’t hide her facial expressions well, and says whatever she thinks.
I think that when she says thank you, she really is thankful and isn’t making it up…
So the little things Fany says or does is special to me T_T
That’s how I was saved by Fany.
Of course, Tiffany wouldn’t remember.. ^^;;
But such a small moment to Tiffany became a huge one to me that I will remember forever.
I could see how the girls usually play with each other, and what their personalities are like after watching them for a whole day.
After seeing them for a whole day, I was able to exchange a few words with them here and there, but they’re so insignificant that I’m not going to write them down… ^^;;

It's been a while, but I had the opportunity some time ago to work as an assistant staff for the Samyang Ramyun CF shoot with SNSD.

I've seen so many other celebrities that are very full of themselves while working with other teams, but this time around, I was very expectant on working with SNSD, who is the hottest issue right now with boys everywhere this year.

They were way~ more professional than I thought (I was critical of them, but fans, please don't get mad at me haha) and during the breaks, these girls were so loud and noisy that my ears were ringing. Hahaha

I am leaving these words here because I hope that any misunderstandings about this popular girl group will be cleared up.

First, SNSD's staff members came in and explained to us that the girls' conditions were not the best because they had such a packed schedule. Even before SNSD arrived, the staff, like me, were joking amongst each other that this shoot would be difficult since they are the most popular idol stars. At the same time, people were nervous haha.
Well of course, the fact that I was going to see SNSD in real life made me expectant of them. However, I was expecting this shoot to be no different than any other in the way that the celebrities or their staff members would cause a riot and say rude things if the filming went into overtime and tensions started to arise among each other.

The girls broke my negative expectations when they first came on time, even though we were notified they might be late. The first impression that I remember having of them was that the way they greeted people was outstanding... they greeted everyone, including the director, cameraman, and even the assistant staff members who were organizing the props, by saying "Hello, we're SNSD!" and their greeting to everyone changed the atmosphere of the set right from the beginning.

As everyone might have noticed, the dance and song were supposed to be something people can enjoy. So When they first arrived, I guess some members didn't fully memorize the dance yet so a couple of them were practicing hard, and when it wasn't going well, they got frustrated at themselves and dragged another member who knew the dance to receive personal lessons.
And as I was cleaning up one of the props I passed by Tiffany and Yuri, and when I heard them crying(complaining) that they couldn't memorize it well... ah... hehehe

What I remember most is that before the actual filming began, Jessica plopped herself on a sofa on the set as the other members each took turns coming to nap with her. Jessica was already being caught on camera and she was asleep and so defenseless so other members were at first watching and laughing at her. But because it was still awkward with the staff, a few of them sat cross legged around her to hide her face. When I saw that, a father-like smile was plastered on my face, hahaha.
That's when I realized that these ladies were cuter than I thought...

They seemed to be very awkward when they first stood in front of the camera... the director explained to them about the continuity of the shoot and when he really emphasized that their expressions should be cute, I heard mumbling and grumbling here and there because it was so hard and awkward. Hahaha.
Sunny kept saying, "We're still Girls' Generation, were cute! We can do this!" and other things and the other members caught on and repeated Sunny's words. They put their hands together and said "Fighting!" and they stood in front of the camera again...
Even though nobody asked, they so nicely explained that that's what they shout before every performance...

The girls were so distracted and scatterbrained before the shoot, but I began to understand as we continued to film, that that was how they kept by their "fighting". hehe

The shooting went through midnight and early morning and the staff and SNSD were all getting tired, but every time they took break they massaged each others' shoulders and when filming resumed, they yelled "We'll work hard, fighting!" so we, the staff, continued working without complaints. When filming had to stop because one of them made a mistake in the dance, everybody would just laugh it off and continue because the mistaken member would blame themselves so harshly before anybody even said anything. hahaha

And this was very surprising: they were a girlgroup, but they put each other in a headlock when they play! hahaha The director, who was watching the screen so seriously, burst out in sudden laughter when they did that...
Because of that, their hair became messy so the codi [codi = coordinator = stylist] had to come running in, too...

During the photo shoot, what I personally remember most is... a close friend of an advertiser [for Samyang] bluntly took a picture with SNSD. Nobody can really refuse when they ask, but soon all the lighting crew and a hyung I was working with went to go ask if they could take a picture with Yoona, Sunny, and Seohyun, who were resting and sitting on top of each other on one side of the set. Even if they got rejected, they thought it wouldn't hurt to ask, but the girls so gladly took some pictures with them, so they were so surprised...

Unfortunately, their manager came over from afar and gave a warning look. I noticed that the manager's look showed it would be difficult to take a picture, so I said it I was fine and didn't a picture, but now I regret not having a picture to look back at hahaha Maybe because they're idols, but they especially seemed to pay attention to their manager's looks more than other celebrities. Thanks to those who took the pictures with the girls, we were constantly being watched by that manager... Even though I'm not a stalker, nor was I ever really a SNSD fan, I felt sad because of his over-protectiveness, but oh well...

Anyway, after that, I've worked on many different things including other commercial shoots, but that hyung and I both keep thinking back on SNSD. There were many problems here and there with lighting or a prop, and the shoot was delayed so they missed some of their schedules...
Apart from just being pretty (actually, anybody could see they looked really tired), they were so professional when they went to their signing without frowning once. Even how they took care of many staff members and encouraged them while they were resting is still deeply in my thoughts.

For the all the SNSD fans, I think you can be rest assured that these people are worth cheering for in the future. As for myself, I plan to continue supporting them as a fan when watching a music program in the future, or as a staff member if I am lucky enough to meet them again.
