<<< In a nutshell (No, not a pun for No Nut November, mind you all.), BoA did very well in Japan and in the U.S., no matter what anyone has said negatively at the timeframe. There were definite gains in both of her career endeavors. If they were gauging on monetary and media gains only, then it's their own fault for having such lack of faith, too much narrow-mindness with their foolish ignorance, and limited resources to not notice there's many more K-Pop Fans in the world because of BoA debuting in these two places in the world. I've meet K-Pop Fans who became K-Pop Fans who started with BoA in the U.S., but they weren't vocal about it. There's nothing wrong in enjoying music from other countries in other languages in the U.S. since there has been many such foreign music that have been around for decades. Not sure why some South Korean Fans don't get this in the U.S. at all.
<<< I don't think it was too early for BoA to debut in the U.S., since the growing numbers of K-Pop fans at the time didn't show any signs of stopping or decreasing in 2006. People recognized how much K-Pop can produce such high quality music and entertainment content that hardly showed any indicators of wanting to halt the Hallyu Wave in the U.S. K-Pop fans were already aware of BoA and her skill sets are, and having her debut in the U.S. was a dream come true. I believe the difficulty for K-Pop back then was being able to establish a good communications between the K-Pop Industry with their International Fans. The local fans didn't make it easier for them to work on this for completely childish reasons. Some even bordered on nationality issues and language complacency. Even following similar avenues of reasoning like J-Pop, although it was confirmed J-Pop was trying to contain K-Pop's expansion to a degree which didn't go unnoticed by fans on both sides.
<<< So it made perfect sense when you actually think about it, having BoA debut in the U.S. will certainly advance SM into newer markets. JYP, not wanting to be left behind in his company's expansion, which happened to included restaurants in the U.S. too, sent the Wonder Girls over the following year after BoA's debut. If JYP had a very strong Soloist, he would've sent that Artist over to the U.S., but seeing how there's still an opening to land the 1st K-Pop Girl Group to have a successful U.S. Tour was certainly something he won't pass up on accomplishing in his career. Which is understandable. BoA did make an impact in the U.S., despite what South Korean fans said. It may not have been like a massive hit on the U.S. music industry at the time, but certainly caught the attention of many regardless, and still to this day there's many BoA fans in the U.S.

Now, as for the U.S., again, the economics speaks for itself, knowing how strong the all mighty U.S. Dollar is and how strong the business and trade is between all three countries. Before BoA made her debut in the U.S., there were a few problems that arose from other K-Pop Artists, such as the 2004, Baby V.O.X/Tupac's Mother Incident. Please consider this aspect whereas SM newly debuted SNSD in 2007 and a heated competition between SM and JYP had begun with YG, at the time being the Dark Horse every looming over them just ready to fill in the blank spaces left open by both companies. Wonder Girls were doing fair well and even outstanding. But JYP was well aware how strong BoA was at the time, and having a strong Soloist to rival her in his company was an issue. There's no denying that.
<<< Not sure why there's still people who think going to Japan and the U.S. is a bad thing for K-Pop artists when the entire goal is to expand the business, help spread the K-Pop culture while boosting South Korea's tourism, make more people happy through music and dancing, and earn a good paycheck in return. Surely people cannot refute these accomplishments these K-Pop Artists have done over the years since the 1st Generation (1996-1999). Consider this about going to Japan, the Yen is strong and the earnings made is good for K-Pop. Knowing there's still a good amount of relations between both countries, despite few issues here and there, good trade and business still thrives and continues to build good friendships between them. What makes BoA such a unique artists debuting in Japan is her education and learning abilities. Being able to absorb and love the culture and the people of Japan and speak their language so fluently, made her stand in the spotlight that much more brighter to convey those emotions and feelings through her music and performances. ^_^

I've seen many talented dancers and singers still dancing and singing as they get older. It's true, it's up to her if she would like to retire and take up a new challenge, such as finding her man whose the same age as her/around the same age as her, and someday become a super mom, and later on start running SM as its new C.E.O. with SNSD's Sunny. ^_^ If she knows and is aware of what she must do to keep going, she's in control and doesn't really have to worry that much. ^_^
