Dear Taeyeon,
There is no doubt that any fan who enjoys K-Pop would understand that being the leader of a large girl group can be one of the hardest roles in the industry; you not only have to look after your children and be strong for them and offer a shoulder for support during tough times, but as the main vocalist of the renowned Girls’ Generation, you have the image of “Asia’s Number One Girl Group” to maintain, which must be nothing short of exhausting (especially as a paper human).
Despite all of this, you are always embracing us with such a bright smile and putting your heart and soul and tons of effort into your singing career. It was one of the first things I noticed when I joined the fandom, along with being the vocal powerhouse that positively blew me away (you make it look so easy hitting those high notes, but I should have known better than to doubt your abilities), and that your smile makes you shine on stage. It is obvious to me that you love being on stage and performing, and although you may not stand out as the tallest member, you certainly don’t fall short when it comes to talent or looks.
I may not have been in the fandom from the very beginning like some, but it is all too clear to me just by looking through the photo album from 2007 until now that you have matured with your responsibilities, whilst keeping a fun and childish alter ego to lighten the mood and entertain your members. No wonder you are called the Kid Leader.
2015 was yet again an incredibly busy year for you personally: a group comeback with a new full-length album, as well as sub-group promotions, and finally, your solo debut. SONE have waited for eight long years, but I think we can all agree that it was well worth the wait. So many music show wins and album copies sold would certify this. The release of “I” allowed you to be yourself and showcase the unique and casual side of the Taeyeon we know, which may not have been broadcast yet. You were able to be you; and we could not be more proud of you for all you have accomplished.
Kim Taeyeon, you have inspired a generation, and we sincerely thank you for that. Have a very happy birthday.

I’m trying to slowly learn Korean to send my feelings to you directly like K-Sones are so blessed to do, but thank you. Your song ‘Rain’ has become a personal favorite. The lyrics speak of a missed love, yes, but the music kinda rocks you like a soothing melody to calm the roiling emotions that come with just living life. My sentiments for you and the girls this year are that you can stop and enjoy where you are at the moment you’re there. I’m an admitted Sooyoungster and avid Sunshiner, but the writer here isn’t kidding when they say your voice has that…oomph! For lack of a better term. Keep on singing!
