The yearly rankings by the Sisa Journal for the people who move Korea has been published, and Girls’ Generation has been ranked as the #1 most influential celebrity for the second year in a row.
Girls’ Generation was in first place with 26.2% of the votes, ahead of the nation’s MC Yoo Jaesuk with 21% and Park Jinyoung with 10.1%. Girls’ Generation widened the gap since last year where they were first with 18.2% compared to Yoo Jaesuk’s 14.2%. The worldwide success of “The Boys”, the Girls’ Generation – TTS subunit, Yoona and Yuri’s drama roles, and each of the nine members helped to promote the name “Girls’ Generation” to gain even more recognition within Korea and abroad as the representative of Hallyu. Girls’ Generation was sixth on the list in 2009 and 2010 before taking the top spot in 2011.
Additionally, Mnet released their list of top 100 idol stars, and all nine Girls’ Generation members were represented within the top eleven spots. Mnet’s poll took into account online voting from fans for 30% of the final score and the results from the internationally respected polling company Gallup, which accounted for the remaining 70% of the score.

As I state every time an article like this comes out, I agree with the rankings wholeheartedly. Some may think these polls take it too far with the influence that an idol can have on culture and awareness, but I know there are a few million Sone that would beg to differ, including myself. :-)
Their growing popularity is amazing. It makes me very proud yo be a Sone!
Hihihi soshi daebak! Unnies are jjang :)
Thus is awesome. All nine on the list.. All of them were a active this year. Wild romance, love rain, fashion king, third hospital.. Taetiseo album n hosting.. Sunny with catch Me if u can musical.. Hyoyeon with dancing wiTh the stars.. Wow. They ought to be in the list.. But thought jessica would place Higher cos she seems the busiest this year with Al the mags photoshoots.. But i’m impressed by their performance this year. Now if only they’ll do a comeback as nine in Korea. That;d be great!
I know that Girls’ Generation always influence everyone around the world and it even influenced some teenagers in North Korea. Yep, it’s true. And I know that the power of nine won’t die anytime soon, so that means that Girls’ Generation will be around for a extremely long time right up until the moment the girls feel old and ready to retire. And by the way, i’m lookkng forward to their upcoming Korean comeback and official American debut
5 years in the business and still going strong as the same 9 angels who started. i’m proud of them. it’s all thanks mostly to KSones and the general public for loving these girls. once your country men back you up in almost everything, you can’t go wrong. SM is doing something right for keeping SNSD grounded in S.K. while only tipping the waters elsewhere. Sones we need to just continue to show our love and support wherever these ladies go. We are their wishes that they’re depending on far and wide. let’s continue to help KSones push their angels to the top by buying their songs and albums on sites that counts toward the important K-charts. also if we can buy their other endorsement products like them Casio Baby G watches, let’s show them how much influential they have outside of S.K. too. Soshi hwaiting! Sone for life!
thanks SSF for news update ♡
Their population is no joke, even in the states most of my American friends know girls’ generation :D
It’s really amazing, that all nine of them were in the top list. I always thought that Jessica and Yuri were more popular than Tiffany. But here we go, tiff is on the top three :D
I’m so glad. SNSD 4 EVER! :D
I love all of u 9 girls because over the past 5 years I’ve know you girls, you have all been an inspiration to me. I love you all! Let’s hope Girls’ Generation doesn’t end!
사랑해요!
i think yuri is up very fast with her drama and her variety( invincible youth seasn1). she used to be not much popular compared to other members since debut(only above soo sun hyo ) but invincible youth helped her so much. after that show, she is pretty popular among ajummas, many ajummas vote for her as loved idol by them , only after yoona and jokwon:
Which idols do the middle-aged ladies love the most?
On the March 24th broadcast of Y-Star‘s “Wonder About That“, investigators targeted middle-aged women (a.k.a. ajummas) and polled them to see which idols were the most loved by their group.
The program surveyed 300 women, all between the ages of 40-60 years, and asked, “Who is the top idol?” Through this survey, the ajummas were able to show that idol-love wasn’t just restricted to teenagers and young adults.
Of all the idol groups, SNSD placed 1st, with 102 out of 300 votes. Breaking it down individually, SNSD’s Yoona came in 1st place because of her acting appearances through dramas. 2AM‘s Jo Kwon placed 2nd because of his kkab dance and his cuteness. In 3rd place was SNSD’s Yuri because ajummas wanted to have her as their daughter-in-law.
Here are the full results from the survey:
1. SNSD
2. Big Bang
3. KARA
4. Super Junior
5. 2AM
6. B2ST
7. 2PM
1. Yoona (SNSD)
2. Jo Kwon (2AM0
3. Yuri (SNSD)
4. Leeteuk (Super Junior)
5. Nichkhun (2PM)
6. Daesung (Big Bang)
7. TOP (Big Bang)
8. Ga-In (Brown Eyed Girls)
9. Shindong (Super Junior)
10. Seohyun (SNSD)
11. Sunny (SNSD)
12. Taeyeon (SNSD)
13. IU
14. Minho (SHINee)
15. Goo Hara (KARA)
16. Boram (T-ara)
17. Nicole (KARA)
18. U-know Yunho (TVXQ)
19. Park Gyuri (KARA)
20. Kahi (After School)

That’s amazing!!! The popularity of Girls Generation gets even higher…I never seen anything like it! :D
Its really true, because of SNSD i have to start to know all about korea deeply.
South Korea must really thanks to Our Girls XD
hyoyeon, saranghae
Sweet! I’m happy that SNSD still maintains a lot of influence! You go, Girls!!! Two years running and still no sign of stopping… not even slowing down. As a group or individually, they spread so much influence around.
I do hope that they are adequately rewarded for all their efforts and hard work. They are so popular and influential now but there are still so humble, down-to-earth, and dorky.
* dAdA *: I was replying to your comment but Idk ;D
No problem. I still can relate to your post. It’s not a cameo appearance. She appears from ep 7 to 16, a total of 10 episodes. But idk why too.
Maybe because Sica’s playing a cameo role :) Maybe next time ^^
I wonder why Jessica’s drama appearance is usually left out when talking about SNSD’s members in drama. And only Yoona and Yuri’s name are mentioned! No offense, just my curiosity.
One of two things… or both maybe:
1) Jessica wasn’t in the top billing for Wild Romance (for some reason), even though she played a big role in the main character’s life. I noticed that in a lot of the promo posters, she wasn’t there. Compared to Yoona and Yuri where the promo posters prominently showed them while Jessica wasn’t.
2) Wild Romance didn’t really rate well for KBS. I don’t know how well Love Rain and Fashion King did, to be honest, but I gather they rated significantly better than Wild Romance.
Just my guess though.
1. Well… she was added the cast at the last minute or so. Her appearance was confirmed after the drama had been aired, so that’s why she doesn’t appear in Wild Romance’s poster.
2. Comparing Wild Romance rating to Love Rain’s, it’s kind of similar (roughly 5% on average), while Fashion King obtains a higher rating. Although Yoona takes the main role, Jessica & Yuri’s role are quite the same. They both lead cast.
What I can think of is probably the writer/media forgets her’s. But why almost all forgets her? Anyway… idk
As stated in the article, YoonYul were in the Top 4 while Jessica lagged behind at number seven. So, obviously YoonYul’s dramas were more popular. Not to mention, Yuri acted in ‘Unstoppable Marriage’ (with Sooyoung) and Yoona actually appeared in multiple dramas so loads of people would watch their current dramas to find if their acting improved or not. Jessica was just a newbie, and a lot of people assume that newbies are bad. I guess Jessica proved them wrong. :3
Yoona
